Veroi – AI-powered, fully local meeting transcription, summaries & action items

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

Hey all – I’m an indie Mac developer and I’ve been working on a new app called Veroi. Sorry, I had to read the rules first. Previous post was removed. Problem meetings: most meeting tools either: send everything to the cloud feel bloated / slow or just dump raw transcripts you never read you leave a meeting with “we should do X” but no clear action items, no ownership, and no memory across meetings and if you want to revisit something later? good luck digging through transcripts or recordings Solution: Veroi record meetings locally: records both mic + system audio, so it captures the entire conversation (not just your voice or one side) real-time transcription (on-device): everything runs locally on your mac – no uploads, no servers. you see transcripts as the meeting happens Gemma4 powered summaries + action items: after each meeting, veroi generates: summaries action items decisions key highlights so you don’t have to rewatch or reread anything meeting memory (this is the big one): you can chat with past meetings + documents it connects conversations across time, so it’s not just “one meeting = one summary” it becomes a memory layer for your work project-based organization: meetings are grouped by project/client instead of a flat list of recordings so context actually builds over time Comparision local-first: most tools like Otter.ai or Fireflies.ai rely heavily on cloud processing veroi runs fully on-device full audio capture: a lot of mac tools only record mic or depend on specific apps veroi captures mic + system audio together memory layer: most tools stop at summaries veroi lets you query across meetings + documents like a knowledge base mac-native: built specifically for mac (apple silicon optimized), not a web wrapper Price free trial: you can try everything for a few days and see if it fits your workflow. No credit card required. paid: Reddit Launch event 30% OFF $55.30 one-time purchase (no subscription) think of it less as paying for a tool, more as supporting a local-first approach to AI apps link to download https://veroi.ai Privacy everything runs locally on your device no meeting audio, transcripts, or data is sent to external servers the only network call is for license verification Trust & transparency I’m an indie mac developer building this in public. Some of you may be familiar with my previous works. Lekh AI/Pro this app is signed + notarized by apple no hidden background services, no cloud processing Ai disclaimer The website veroi.ai was built using claude design. Everything else has been in works for months. Lekh AI codebase helped fast track the development. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am working on a companion iOS app which will be free to use. No licensing will be required.

thank you for the comparison, i see this category too much lately. not sure how to decide on this

Honestly, if you compare one time purchase to a subscription, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. On top of that, your data remains YOURS truly. I would encourage you to try it out and see if you like it. It's free to try and doesn't require a credit card.

I was just about to comment asking what is different about this but thanks for including the comparison! Appreciate the transparency!

If you want a crazy comparison table, check this out: https://veroi.ai/#compare

How does this compare to macwhisper pro. I’ve been using it to transcribe my meetings (both online or voice not recordings) then use either gemma4 or Gemini to make meeting notes + action items.

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

That’s actually a solid setup – MacWhisper + an LLM is probably the closest thing to what I’m doing. The difference is mainly in workflow: You are using (If I'm understanding correctly): Best for transcription of recordings (very accurate, local) Manual flow > record > transcribe > paste into Gemma 4 / Google Gemini No automatic speaker tracking or meeting context Each meeting is basically isolated What I am building with Veroi: Real-time capture (mic + system audio) > no imports Built-in analysis (notes, actions, decisions) without needing a second tool Meetings tied to projects > builds context over time Local-first, no bots joining calls I hope this helps

Cool so the same as the other 1000 apps that get posted here only around 2 times more expensive. That’s a good ask… I wonder if you ask Claude what app works and everyone gets the same shit meeting record app.

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Yeah, it’s higher than some tools, but those are usually: subscription-based cloud-processing your data or limited unless you pay monthly This is more like a one-time, local AI tool vs a SaaS.

Interesting. No mention of fathom Recording of Facetime/Facetime Audio (phone calls?)

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Honestly didn't know about Fathom. I know about Granola which is also a bot free meeting recorder. I do cover that on my website. Fathom is interesting. Thank you for sharing. And, yes, you can record facetime calls as well as it taps into the microphone and speaker.

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

unfortunately, it uses parakeet for transcription and speaker diarization. That only works for English. If this becomes a thing, I’ll be happy to expand to other languages.

Is there any ability to import audio or video files for transcription?

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Audios yes, videos no. You can record the meeting using say Zoom and import that recording into Veroi and have it diarized and transcribed. That then becomes the context gemma4 or qwen3.5 needs

Do you intend to have an MCP so that Claude can read data off your app?

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Hi thank you so much! Any m series mac with 16GB ram will do. It wont work on intel macs

Hi Dev! Supporter and lifetime purchaser here 🌻 I have a bunch of meeting audios I want to import into Veroi. The meetings must retain their original created / recorded date. Is this possible? If not, can I please request this. I have a lot of meetings related to a project I am working on that I would like to start managing inside Veroi, but I need full context to do this. Thank you 🙏 app looks great 🫶

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Hi there – thank you for the support. I honestly just finished setting up updating dates for imported audios. It will be available in the next update. As for managing meetings related to a project, you'd just need to link it after importing. Controls for this are available in the top bar. Also, I'd recommend you join my discord for faster support. I'm really glad you're liking the app.

Looks like a very robust app. Do you imagine this being more for independent contractors or would it also be employed by teams?

u/Living_Commercial_10OPReply

Thank you so much! Right now it’s optimized for independent contractors and freelancers – privacy and on-device processing are a big focus. That said, I do see this growing into a collaborative tool for teams as the user base grows. I will be adding features for that eventually.
