Tunebar 2.0 – Mini player, lyrics, playlists. The Winamp spirit lives in your menu bar.
[Problem] I wanted an app that was very simple, like Winamp used to be, an easy way to play all my local songs. I feel like streaming made music more of a commodity instead of something you care about, curate, and appreciate. I have my own collection of songs that has followed me around for almost 30 years now and I wanted an app that treats it like the library it is. Simple, local, always within reach from the menu bar, completely out of the way when I don't need it. [Compare] Spotify and Apple Music are great if you stream, but they're not built around your files. VLC and Apple's Music app work, but they live in the dock and feel like full desktop apps just to hit play. Tunebar lives in your status bar, one click, massive searchable list, done. [Pricing] $4.99 — App Store What's new in 2.0: Mini player with live lyrics while songs play Playlist support: drop an .m3u in your folder, it just works Local history: see everything you've played, build playlists from it, no servers involved Loop/Repeat Small/Medium/Large list sizes Refreshed song list UI You can find more about me at https://bunn.dev

Looks like Winamp! Love it
thank you 😄
Not even close. Needs an EQ, and some skins. Still a nice app!
Does this also really whip the llama's ass?
I hope so, if not now, maybe one day 😅
u/boomzors Would you be open to a Last.fm integration so that the listen history can be synced?
It's on my roadmap, you're not the first person asking for it. I'm focusing on features related to the local library first, but definitely open to integration as long as it doesn't compromise the main experience. Thanks for the feedback
Hi, I'm the developer. The feedback from this sub after the first launch helped so much to shape what 2.0 became. Many of the new features here were all suggestions from people here. It's really awesome to ship something and watch a community of users helping to decide where the app goes. Hope you enjoy it, and happy to answer any questions.
i like this, i will like to try it out been going back and forth with multiple players
no trial?
No, sorry. There's a lot of work involved in creating paywalls, IAP, etc. It's definitely worth it to bring more people in and test the app, but I took the path (debatable whether it's the best or not) to just do an upfront purchase because this being a passion project without any hard goal to monetize, I wanted to spend the little time I have on the actual app features and not on paywall handling. I know it's not ideal, but it is possible to get a refund from Apple if you don't like it.
Really like the look. Could you make the menu bar pause/play indicator use Liquid Glass too? Would tie it visually to the main player UI. Sorry i cant unsee it haha
Thanks :) Sorry, not sure what you mean by menu bar play indicator. Could you share a screenshot?
Looking to purchase this .. looks really good..
Thank you 😊
u/boomzors is there a sorting feature after pointing the app at a folder? Eg I like to sort by date added to listen to the latest tracks.
Hey, you can sort, but not by date added. I'll add this to my feature request list and see what I can do about. Thank you for the feedback :)
can you make the scrolling smoother? sometimes it's jittery, i have 37 tracks only.
Hey, could you share what is the Mac specs you're using and what's the Tunebar version? Thanks!
Anything like WinAmp must be awesome 😄
I've been using the app for a few months now, I really like it, showing the lyrics is a great idea!
Do macOS apps generate as much revenue as iOS apps? 🤔
Just realized that I have WinAmp nostalgia...
I love the design!
