FocusCursor v3.0 Released! This tool makes cursor operations far clearer during presentations and screen recordings.

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

This tool clearly highlights the cursor’s position, making its movement and clicks easily visible. It is particularly suitable for use in conferences, teaching, or video tutorial production, helping the audience follow your actions and ideas more easily, thereby attracting their attention and improving the effectiveness of information delivery. Problem: During presentations, teaching and screen recordings, the default system cursor is too small and inconspicuous. Audiences struggle to track mouse movements and clicks, which blurs key points and reduces information delivery efficiency. Most existing cursor highlighter tools offer only simple styles, suffer from stuttering, lack flexible annotation tools, and fail to balance smooth tracking and clean recording experience. Comparison: Compared with mainstream macOS cursor tools: Mouseposé only supports cursor highlighting without annotation features. Presentify is bloated, resource-heavy and overcomplicated for simple screen recording. Mouzz has flashy animations with high latency and lacks fine-grained annotation editing. Built lightweight for macOS presentations and screen recordings, FocusCursor combines low-latency cursor tracking + fully editable shape annotations. It runs smoother with no redundant features and delivers cleaner recording quality, offering a purer and more efficient cursor tool for macOS users. Pricing: Lifetime Access: $3.99 Changelog(v3.0): This update adds support for multiple languages, SF Symbols as custom follow particle images, X/Y offset for cursor-follow center, expanded click and CAEmitter cursor-follow particle effects, replaces Drawing Board with ScapDrawingKit, displays numeric values for line and stroke size adjustments, and fixes issues where cursor follow was obscured by menus and jittered during tracking. 📥 Download Link

feature wise there are some good ideas but the execution is abysmal. I don't see this used in any serious presentation. you can keep the "fun" trails and clicks but make something less conspicuous

Noted. Will tone down the click effects while keeping the fun interactions for professional use.

Thanks for the feedback, noted. I’ll keep polishing it further.

Presentify is bloated and resource heavy? The app file itself is less than 5MB and when running it consumes less than 70MB memory.

u/mihhhau

It definitely needs more polish. Using this in some video recording will just make it look cheap.

u/wcjiangOPReply

Glad you like it! Still have lots of details to polish further.

Thanks for the compliment! I’ll add more cursor follow effects in future updates.

> far clearer *throws a bunch of noisy shit on the screen*

Congrats on the launch! One quick thought on the UI — I feel like a static background would work even better here, as the animation distracts a bit from the cursor itself. One technical question if you don't mind: I noticed the cursor masking option in the menu. Did you run into any trouble getting that through the Mac App Store review? I hit a roadblock recently because global cursor hiding usually seems to need private CGS APIs (which Apple instantly rejects). Did you manage to pull this off with public APIs? Would love to know how you tackled it!

Version 3.1 was launched last night, and the static background follow effect from the old version is back now. You can switch to the legacy style. My app is fully implemented using only public APIs.

Can I get a Promo Code - So that I can test it fully. I am a Tech Youtuber.

Thanks for testing my app. I’ve sent it to you via private message.

I'll be honest, I find that the effect is way too distracting to help keep focus on the cursor. It doesn't help the cursor gain attention, the effect grabs all of it.

u/mattcheston

Honestly I like the "mouse mask" more than anything else. Doing that more gently and with better usability might be something.

u/LordWkwkwland

would be nice if I can attach text instead that effects. Wdyt?

u/Guilty-Donut4360

Usefull for the video recording, but there are too cheap effects that i would never use

It looks cool but might be too cool to distract the audience. Also, there are also breaks. It looks like you are placing a particle in the last N cursor locations. I think it may look better if you calculate a spline (or a similar smooth curve) and visualize it nicely.

Thanks for your feedback. Feel free to share any good ideas, I will make improvements accordingly.
