flickery – the full-featured flickr client for Mac – is now free
Hi everybody, my app flickery has been around since 2008. But in recent years, I haven't been able to update it much, and SmugMug, despite my hopes, did nothing to further their (otherwise great) flickr APIs, so I've decided to put flickery on “life support” and make it free on the Mac App Store. It continues to work just fine – its UI is a blast from the Mac OS X Leopard past –, and I will try my best to keep it running, but the app will not be receiving substantial updates anymore. That being said, it is still a great way to browse and use flickr, so I hope with it now being free, the app will be of use to those who frequent flickr. Enjoy : ) – Matthias

Any willingness to open source it? Maybe the community would be willing to help update it?
I'm proud of the app, but not of the code ; ) I am considering open-sourcing it, but if I do, it might take a while. The code definitely needs some cleaning up and tender love and care before I'm comfortable sharing it.
I wonder if you just pointed Claude Opus 4.7 at it and and asked it to rebuild it using modern frameworks how it would do... would that be of interest or nah?
16 Years is impressive
haha, yes, it's been quite a ride : )
16 years is impressive — does it still support the original Uploadr-style batch upload workflow or was that dropped at some point?
16 years wow :)
Cool wish something like this existed for imgur. But bro please update the UI if you have time.
that's one of the “substantial updates” i was referring to no longer happening ; ) Maybe in time.
In the AI era, I think it's easy to update the app and improve the UI. Just spend some time building the AI agent flow and let Claude work based on it. That's all.
