Think things3 but you can drag your tasks straight into your schedule: Chunk's newest update features bi-directional calendar syncing and an updated task mode.

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

Just shipped the biggest update to Chunk since v2 launched: Bi-directional calendar sync (including Apple Reminders): Calendar changes now flow both ways across Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar, so moving a block in Chunk updates your real calendar and vice versa. Things-3-style task panel that replaces the old to-do mode. The task panel gives you a proper sidebar with lists etc. You drag tasks straight onto the day view to schedule them. We think this is a one of a kind feature combining to-do lists and time-blocking into a single flow instead of two disconnected tools. The problem Chunk solves: Most time-blocking tools live in a browser tab you forget about, or need you to stop what you're doing just to check your schedule. We wanted something always one shortcut away, without breaking your flow and with proper time-blocking capabilities. How Chunk is different: Compared to something like Fantastical or a basic calendar app, Chunk is purely focused on time-blocking your day not just managing your monthly calendar events . The panel floats above everything including fullscreen apps, there's a live countdown in your menu bar tray, and fullscreen notifications tell you when it's time to switch tasks. Templates and Routines let you build a day structure once and auto-apply it on set days. There's also a Claude AI integration via a local MCP server. Pricing: Free trial available. One-time purchase, no subscription. → chunkapp.net What's next? We'd love your help answering this! Comment bellow which of these 2 options you'd like to see prioritised next (or if you have your own ideas): Adding an app blocking feature to Chunk. Think Opal but fully integrated into your time-blocks. An IOS mobile app Happy to answer anything here or on my LinkedIn.

This is super intriguing. Personally, I think an iOS app should be the priority. I’d be much more likely to use it if it did.

Great feedback, thanks 🤩 seems like the consensus is mobile app so we’ll keep you updated

definitely the iOS app next.a time blocker isnt super useful if I cantt see it when I step away from my macbook. ..also massive W for the one-time pricing.

It seems you are in the majority! An IOS app will be taking priority

The drag-to-schedule flow is probably the most interesting part of this for me. Between the two, I’d definitely prioritize an iOS app first — time blocking only really works if you can see and adjust it away from your desk too.

I completely agree, as a developer I'm mostly at a desk using a computer but time-blocking works best when the whole day is blocked not just the time at the desk

Hi there ! That's a nice product. Though, when I tried it, i felt the font was too small and did not find a way to increase/adjust. My sight might not be the best but I have my macbook 14 on "more space". Chunk looks like it could fit my workflow: I mostly have 2 types of to dos. One for things i need to remember to discuss in a specific meeting. One for general reminder. The way I manage them is to just create specific appoints in my calendar (but another calenfdar than my official one), and place these meetings/to dos next to the meeting where ai see someone. For the generic to dos, I just created them in the evening of the day when I think I will do them. Any way, my question is: is the font bigger than the version 1 I tried a month ago ?

u/chunk-appOPReply

Noted on the font size. We are aware that it's a small font and was a requirement for the app to be a panel-style app rather than a large window. That said in the future we will definitely consider adding a 'large-mode' setting that scales the whole app for better readability. I will add it to the roadmap

Awesome app but please add weeks numbers. I will buy it for sure. Ios app is next I hope? 😂

u/chunk-appOPReply

Noted on the adding of week numbers! And for whats next, yes the IOS app has the public vote for sure 😁

Interested! Does this sync with Google calendar? Saw something on the site but looks like via Claude?

u/chunk-appOPReply

It syncs with both 😁 It has bidirectional calendar syncing for Google, Apple and outlook calendar 📅 it also ships a separate Claude integration which creates an mcp running locally on your Mac allowing Claude to interact directly with your calendar

Thanks for all the feedback, positive and constructive. Based on the feedback received, we have made an update to the pricing terms. The lifetime license now includes 2 activations instead of 1 and the Family Package 5 instead of 3.

I wonder how many of these apps we'll see over the next few months as everyone vibecodes their own variant. Looks cool though; congrats.

u/chunk-appOPReply

Yes I agree there will be an influx of vibe coded apps . However I’m a full stack developer and this is not a vibe coded app. I have faith that people will still be able to separate the products made by indie developers and teams and vibe coded apps subject to all matters of bugs and security issues.

This looks beautiful. I’m willing to give the trial a try, but idk about spending $20 for this

u/chunk-appOPReply

Thank you 🙏no problem, well we’re always generous with our trial so if the 7 days ends and you need another couple of days to decide just drop us a message

I didn’t read all of it, yet you can drag tasks from Things3 into your calendar already (which I do to time block) so cannot really see what the added value here is?

u/chunk-appOPReply

It still requires managing 2 apps for your time-blocking. chunk allows tasks and calendar within the same app. With chunk, the utility come from being able to plan across task and calendar (3 calendar providers) with very minimal context switching. Try the free trial and hopefully you’ll see the value Chunk brings to time-blocking. And if not I’m sure things3 with Apple cal is great too (whatever works for you)

Gonna try now since you added calendar sync. iOS app is more useful out of two options
