I put a tamagotchi in my Mac's notch: it helps you while you work and has its own world to explore on breaks.

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

Hi r/macapps. Solo dev, following up on my beta post last month (the notch creature). Thanks to the testers for the patience and feedback. A new build with your fixes and requests is on the way. Problem There is time to work and time to switch off. I wanted one thing in the notch for both: something that helps me while I work, and somewhere to slip into for a minute without opening another tab. Comparison There are great apps for each piece on its own (Raycast for launching, Pasta for clipboard, Flow for Pomodoro), and lovely desktop pets too. Kodemon brings both worlds together: the tools live in the notch with a creature that levels up with use, and it has its own world to explore maps and capture digital creatures on breaks. Pricing The game is free forever, no pay to win, nothing gated. Optional one time founder packs ($9.99 and $24.99) will add PRO productivity tools and extra creatures. A free demo is coming around June 24 (still tentative, it may move). If you want it, drop your email and I'll let you know: kodemon.app (I still need to update the tie with the improvements made during beta testing.) In the demo File stash in the notch 3 app shortcuts 25/5 Pomodoro Clipboard history (50 entries) Turn based RPG: maps, elemental combat, digital creature capture (The later game levels are still in the works, that's why it's a demo.) About me Roger Canchanya, solo dev from Lima, Peru. I do not do all of it alone: I hired designers and musicians on Fiverr so the project looks and sounds right. Paid Apple Developer account, app notarized by Apple, distributed signed from my own site (not on the Mac App Store). I find it very odd that the site is in Spanish, that there’s no download link to be seen, and that you can sign up for a trial that’s dated for April. It doesn’t strike me as very reputable

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that. In response to your questions: Language: It's my native language, and it's my fault for leaving it in Spanish. I'll fix it right now. There's no download link because the demo launch is in June (as stated in the video and post). Beta registration was announced and closed last month. Currently, the beta testers (who joined through Reddit) are validating the app. I'll correct the language in a few minutes. If you're interested in the project, you can register using the tally form on the website. Thanks for your feedback!

the Pomodoro + clipboard + creature combo is actually a smart bundle. most productivity apps try to do one thing well. putting a break mechanic that's genuinely fun

I'm glad you like this feature pack! I gave the abilities allegorical names to add more narrative weight. The idea is to share the lore, so everyone can have a free pet/assistant. Thanks for commenting, friend!

finally, an app that understands i need to track my clipboard AND catch digital creatures between classes

Thanks for commenting! More new features and a wide variety of creatures to capture are coming soon!

Thanks for commenting, friend! It's the result of many months of work. I hope you like it. I expect to release the demo on June 24th.

This is lovely! Personally, I love mini games when working. I use Raycast's typing practice very frequently to take a break without actually leaving my desk and breaking flow from "work mode" also it's confetti feature every time i finish a task that I had listed as a must-do for that day just to give myself those small rewards/dopamine hits to reinforce good behaviour. Probably sounds weird to some of you reading this, but I found the little quick hits that don't break your flow really valuable.

Awesome, friend! I'm glad to know there are people who like the concept; I hope I can live up to expectations. Thanks for commenting, it encourages me to keep going!

I haven't heard the word "Tamagotchi" in years. As a Japanese person, now I feel old.

u/FlowGullible9529OPReply

Hehe, I'm sorry you feel old, the idea was to bring back a little nostalgia. I hope it's a good memory. Thanks for commenting, friend!

Seeing someone put a Tamagotchi in a Mac notch really makes me realize how old I've gotten. I remember watching the Tamagotchi craze unfold in real time back in Japan. Well played — you got me there.

Haha, I hadn't thought of that. I thought it looked like the slime from the anime: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I'll start playing Terraria, thanks for commenting!

It will be free, from fan to fan. I hope they're useful and fun. Estimated release date: June 24th: Demo... I have to run 😰

u/FlowGullible9529OPReply

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying! Thanks, although I'll have to extend the release date, but I'm thinking of launching another call for testers.

Thanks for commenting! They'll be free. From one fan to another. I expect to release the rest by June 24th.
