Scopo: a window switcher that shows only the Space you're in (free codes inside)
I'm Igor, the developer of Scopo.app. I'd really like honest feedback from this sub, including the harsh kind. Posting under Tier 2, so my details are at the bottom. Problem I like to split my Mac across Spaces, one Space per scope. A scope is whatever you want to keep separate from everything else: a client, a side project, your personal stuff, a Space for socials, even a chill Space with YouTube and Spotify. macOS lets you set this up, but Cmd+Tab ignores it completely. It switches apps, not windows, and it pulls from every Space at once. So when the same app is open in several scopes, say a browser for work, a browser for personal, and a browser for socials, I tab to it and macOS drops me into whichever window it feels like, usually one from a different scope. I can't pick the window I want or even tell where I'll land. Scopo window switcher in action Scopo replaces Cmd+Tab with a switcher scoped to your current Space and screen. One Space, one scope. By default it shows only the windows that belong to the scope in front of you, so you pick the exact one and always know where you're going. And when you do need another scope, you can reach into other Spaces right from the switcher, see their windows, pick one, and Scopo takes you straight there. Comparison (Scopo vs the world) vs AltTab (free, with a paid upgrade): AltTab is excellent and shows a thumbnail of every window everywhere. Two differences. Scoping to one Space is an optional filter in AltTab, while in Scopo it's the default. And window search is a paid feature on AltTab, but it's free in Scopo. Scopo's paid tier adds a shelf, profiles, and move-window between spaces. vs Tangrid (paid): Tangrid also combines tiling and switching and does it well. The difference is focus and where the free line sits. Tangrid shows you everything across displays and Spaces, and it's paid. Scopo shows one Space at a time and keeps the switcher, previews, and search free, with tiling and extras in Pro. Short version: the things Scopo gives you for free (window switching, live previews, and search) are paid features on both of those. Alt Tab Free is a fork of Alt Tab and it’s… well… free. And it has all these features and more for free
Thanks for trying it out! Scopo is not a fork of AltTab, although it definitely inspired some of the ideas behind Scopo. Give the Pro features a try too. The trial doesn't require a credit card, so it's easy to explore everything. I hope you like it, but if you don't, come back here and let me know what didn't work for you. 🙌
What he means is theres an open source free version of your product but with more features
looks useful. the “one Space, one scope” idea makes sense, especially for people who split work/personal/projects across spaces. curious how well it handles multi-monitor setups?
Hey u/BennoDev19, We do support multiple monitors. The switcher even shows a small monitor badge indicating which display a Space belongs to when you're using the macOS setting "Displays have separate Spaces" (which is actually how I use Scopo myself). See that little display icon with a number next to it? That number indicates which monitor the Space is currently assigned to.
And in the menu bar, we show which Space currently has focus. I'm biased, of course, but Scopo has genuinely changed the way I use my Mac, and thankfully for the better. We also have a lot of other features beyond Space-aware switching. There's a 30-day card-free trial, so if you decide to give it a try, I'd love to hear what you think.

hey u/GroggInTheCosmos Thanks for almost trying it 😄, the free code and discount code requires a credit card because Paddle doesn't support card less checkouts, but our 30 days trial for pro features doesn't require a credit card. Also, the switcher features is free forever. Let me know if you like it and what you think of it.
I bet you haven't checked what scopo means in italian
Bro, I knew the formal meaning of scopo, but I had no idea it also had a slang meaning. I only found out because I tried searching for mentions of "Scopo" and all I got back were results about dating apps and other related stuff.
I actually did. I'm Brazilian, and in Portuguese "scope" is very close in both spelling and pronunciation, we say "escopo.", but I thought it sounded good in both English and Portuguese, so that's ultimately why I went with it.
Is ther some documentation?
u/Ok-Rest-5321 Scopo is a window switcher replacement, so I'd like to think it's pretty intuitive to use, let me know if you try to use it and find it does something unexpected. Either way, Intuitive is ultimately subjective so you can check out the features page at https://scopo.app/features, where we explain the core concepts and share a few tips for alternative workflows and edge cases. We've intentionally tried to keep the number of settings and keyboard shortcuts to a minimum to avoid unnecessary complexity. After giving screen access it still shows this dialogue which is a big now now , and subscription at 15$ is a super no no , and when ever I type window names none show up , all the yearly pro codes are not working
u/Stubborninmate, thanks for catching that. I just fixed the discount code for the yearly plan. Regarding Screen Recording permission, that's currently the only way for Scopo to capture window snapshots for window previews. It's completely optional, though. You can disable window previews or simply deny Screen Recording permission, and Scopo should continue to work normally without it. That said, I'll take another look at this just to make sure we haven't introduced a regression.
No I am fine with the permission even after granting it , it keeps popping up everytime that's the issue, and why the subscription never understood that when it could be lifetime . Also the window manager is not keyboard driven, I haven't used the code since it's subscription only saying this from the screenshots shared
u/Stubborninmate, I've tested the flow and couldn't reproduce the issue. If you DM me we could try to troubleshoot what's happening, but my first recommendation is to quit and restart the app whenever you have changed it's permissions. About the subscription model this is my first time distributing a Mac app, I've created small utilities before but only for myself, that's how Scopo started, and I'm still trying to figure out how to make this sustainable, I want to keep supporting and growing it.
Agreed 💯, my point is it's not cloud based for a recurring free structure, plus for something which runs locally a subscription may not be well received, cotypist was a typical example great app solid daily usage, abandoned because of the pricing structure, this app is nice , so just giving you a heads up . During the initial setup I had already given access and the app restarts on its own this is comming up after that
Also, Scopo's trial doesn't require a credit card, so feel free to give it a try and check out the Pro features. I'd love to hear your feedback on those as well, and I have a feeling you won't hold back. 😄
