Hey r/macapps! A huge thank you to everyone who tried Grambo, reported bugs, and shared feedback after my last post. One piece of feedback that stood out was that after applying an AI rewrite, it was hard to tell what exactly had changed. For grammar fixes it wasn't a big deal, but for larger rewrites and tone changes, it made reviewing your writing more difficult. What's new: Comparison View to see exactly what changed between your original and rewritten text. Custom Server URLs for BYOK, so you can connect to your own OpenAI-compatible AI endpoints. Great! Every click counts. As a rule, any more than 2 is usually considered buried for stuff people might want to use regularly. Shortcut access is helpful too for reducing it to one step.
I already have Fluent and Refine. I do like your feature of comparison, think thats lovely. I am wondering actual benefit will I have over Fluent and Refine. Thanks.
Refine is a good alternative. But it is costlier ($68 for 3 devices) than Grambo ($14.99 for 3 devices) and has the same issue of interrupting the writing flow with underlines.
The comparison view is a smart addition, that's always been my biggest gripe with AI rewrite tools too, once the tone changes it's hard to tell what actually got altered vs what's just paraphrasing for the sake of it. Does the custom server URL support streaming, or is it request/response only? Been meaning to hook a local model into something like this myself.
Custom url supports only full response mode. To be honest, I beleive that streaming is not required here as we want to update the whole text at once rather than removing everything and showing word by word.

I used lemonsqueezy for the licensing part. And because of that I did not submit it in the App store. The ios/ipad app beta is in the app Store, and it's under development.
local grammar + BYOK for the heavier rewrites is exactly the right split. $15 lifetime vs Grammarly's subscription isn't even a contest
The main issue I faced with Grammarly was not the cost, but the way it interrupted my writing and the thought flow.
Grammar correction is something I need. Especially grammar. Could be better if can translate as well.

Would love to see a setting where you can see the comparison first before accepting changes.
That is a good suggestion for a grammar app. But we already have grammarly or other similar apps for that. That specific feature will interrupt the writing flow and thoughts. And that's why I built Grambo.
Lifetime for $15 is a steal. Does the license cover multiple Macs?
