[Update] One update in the last C2M completely changed how I use my Mac
Hey all, Not doing a full changelog post - just want to share the window drag & resize gesture added since my last post about Click2Minimize, because it's quietly become the thing I use most every day. Here's the problem it fixes: On macOS, if you want to move a window, you have to grab the title bar - a strip that's maybe 30px tall. If you want to resize it, you have to find the edge or corner, which on a lot of windows is a hit box just a couple pixels wide. Every time, your cursor has to travel there, slow down, aim, and only then can you actually do the thing you wanted to do. It's such a small tax that most people never question it - but it happens dozens of times a day, and it adds up to a real drag on how fast you can work. Now, macOS does technically have a 3-finger move gesture already - if you turn on "Accessibility > Pointer Control > Trackpad Options > Three Finger Drag," you can drag a window by its title bar with three fingers instead of clicking and holding. But that's it. It's still tied to the title bar specifically, and there's no equivalent for resizing at all. You still have to go hunt down that hairline edge every time you want to make a window bigger or smaller. C2M now removes both limitations entirely. Hold three fingers down anywhere on a window - content area, doesn't matter where - and drag to move it. Pinch in or out and you resize it instead. No hunting for a title bar. No lining your cursor up with a hair-thin border. You just grab the window wherever your hand already is and go. Works with a mouse wheel too, if you're not on a trackpad. The first time it clicks for you, it's kind of a small revelation - like, why was I ever aiming for a 2px edge in the first place? After that it becomes completely automatic. I genuinely forget I'm using a "feature" at this point; it just feels like how windows should've worked on macOS all along. Comparison to other window management apps: Not many window management apps let you pull this off with pure trackpad or mouse gestures alone. BetterTouchTool comes close - you can rig up modifier keys + mouse movement to move and resize windows - but that means both hands have to show up to work, plus your brain has to remember which finger-key combo does what today. It's less "muscle memory" and more "which hand does the thing again?" the 3-finger drag anywhere on the window body is something I didn't know I needed until I tried it. hunting for that 2px resize edge is one of those things you just accept as normal on macOS until something removes it. the BTT comparison is fair too, modifier key combos always feel like a workaround rather than a real solution.

Just bought Better Stage 3. Does this work with it?
BetterStage solves a different issue - helping you tile windows edge to edge. I think it does a great job for that purpose. On the other hand, my main workspace is a MacBook Pro 14, where screen real estate is quite limited, and splitting it into smaller pieces only makes things worse to work with. This is such a smart fix for something everyone just silently accepts. The title bar hunt is real - especially on windows with thin borders where resizing feels like a precision test. Curious how you handle the pinch-to-resize when the window’s near screen edges - does it clamp/snap, or can you pull it off-screen? And does the 3-finger drag conflict at all with Mission Control’s swipe gestures, or did you tune the thresholds to avoid overlap? Solid feature either way, tempted to try it out.
Currently windows is allowed to be dragged off screen and does not snap because C2M has much faster gestures to snap windows and I found it’s useful sometimes to put windows offscreen. Code Dm’ed.
Is it possible to add a setting where the drawing mouse gestures are only enabled when I use an external physical mouse, but not using my trackpad? I like to use drawing gestures when I have my mac in clamshell mode with my external mouse but navigate with touch gestures in laptop form. An issue I have faced with bettertouchtool where I keep accidentally triggering drawing gestures with my trackpad when I'm trying to use touch gestures to navigate in laptop form.
That is not an issue for c2m, the drawing gestures need you press 2 fingers down and only triggers after a distance.
Nice update — the drag-from-anywhere gesture is one of those things you don't realise you need until you have it. I've been using BetterTouchTool for years for something similar but it always felt bolted on. How are you handling edge cases with apps that have their own custom drag regions (like Figma or Electron apps)?
C2M uses AXUI api to change window sizes so it does not pin the borders at all. Code Dm'ed and you can try it out.
I've used this app for a few months exclusively for the click to minimize function which makes macOS so much better. I can't image how apple people live without that simple feature which macOS should have by default. I also use it to replace finder with bloom. Works great and when I encountered a bug the developer fixed it within a day!

It’s because of the recording. It does not lag at all at runtime.
I mean, that's not a totally fair BTT comparison (borderline dishonest): there's a "toggle start/stop moving windows" option that can be mapped to touchpad commands, no keyboard commands needed, for example I have a three finger force-click set to do the same. I will however grant you the similar resize window toggle is not nearly as smooth in BTT, which is quite janky.

You might have missed BetterTouchTool's gesture support, you can assign the "Start and Stop Moving Windows" actions to any gesture. Personally I use it with a three finger click, on click down I start the moving, on touch release I stop the moving. It has been awesome for many many years.
