Request: An app to switch between Applications/Windows AND Browser Tabs - ideally open source

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

Since most of my work and heavy lifting is done in browser tabs these days, I want to be able to switch between (not just cycle) them with a keyboard shortcut AND also between any open Mac applications such as Notes. (side note: This is sort of the behaviour which Edge browser on Windows provides.) I am looking for Safari and/or Chrome support.

How well is it maintained / is the developer actively enhancing it?

Yes it stil is a month old project but last update was 5 days ago. Its open source so you can also fork it to develop on it

Disclaimer I'm scopo developer... You might like scopo.app/features , we don't support picking individual browser tabs but if this has enough user demand I could add it to Scopo roadmap. We just introduced a free forever tier and we have a 30 days card free trial for the pro features. https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/comments/1u9oxkm/scopo_a_window_switcher_that_shows_only_the_space/ Let me know what you think. I'm open to all kinds of feedback.

You might be interested to know that in the next few days we'll be shipping a new feature that lets you search for browser tabs directly from the switcher. We won't include tabs in the standard window list, as that would make it much longer and more confusing for most users. Instead, you'll be able to search for tabs by their title or URL, then jump straight to the one you want by selecting the matching result. I will let you know when we release the new version.

I think the tricky bit is that "apps/windows" and "browser tabs" are really two separate things on macOS. For switching between apps or windows, something like BetterCmdTab, rcmd, Homerow, or an AltTab-style switcher should help. But for browser tabs, I think browser-specific tab search is still the safest bet, since Safari and Chrome tabs do not show up like normal app windows. So I would probably split it like this: app/window switching: BetterCmdTab or rcmd tab switching: the browser's built-in tab search or tab overview for a single fuzzy switcher, double-check that it actually supports Safari and Chrome tabs, not just windows I have not found a good open-source "one switcher for everything" option yet.

If you mean "switch to specific Chrome window" this might be something for you. https://switchflow.cc Although this is paid.

This looks great. I no longer need to keep downloading several utilities. Your icon is great (but why black hole?) -- are you a designer? Edit: Just finished setting up. Two thoughts This beautifully switches between many windows of the same application, great UX too. I wonder, if it is possible to activate a particular tab in Safari (or Chrome) when switching to it? And if that is possible, is it possible to also display a few recently used browser tabs as if they were windows? The onboarding steps feel long. This is not a criticism, or complaint, just letting you know. That said, I believe most people would expect / be okay with this since Vorssaint does many things.
