New Pastebot for Mac

Happy to see this, but would love an update to Calcbot even more since it won’t run on Tahoe
Good news, Tapbots has expressed interest in both Pastebot for iOS and a much needed universal update for Calcbot recently.
An outrageous price, and then an update for just one year? No way.
Tapbots has a shaky update routine, meaning new versions get released slowly and uneventfully. It's likely that v1 will not differ much from 1.??
In what universe is this app worth $39 or $24.99 subscription when there are other proven apps that cost much less (I have no problem supporting developers, BTW) or free? I don't get it. The developer needs to hire a marketing person to read the room to price the app accordingly.
The price is flaky compared to the previous 12.99 one-time for Pastbot 2, but for me it's understandable. If you check out what apps the developers put out, you'll see a common trend: insanely polished apps beloved by many, that don't get updated very much. The points you mention conflict with the recent situation of the (2) devs, who are busy at work on many, many things while tending an ill family member. They've got 2 apps to earn money for the 3 people at Tapbots, with roughly $50-60 total in subscription offerings. Additionally, if you check the footers, Tapbots has existed since 2008. They know very well what they're doing, and what it takes to sustain themselves.
Subscription? Hard pass. I'm keeping my PB2.
Heads up for anyone clicking through: Pastebot 3 requires macOS 26 Tahoe . Pastebot 2 keeps working, but if you are on Sequoia or older this is not an update you can take yet. The pricing model changed too. Direct from Tapbots it is $39 with a year of updates included, then $19 a year if you want to keep getting them. The App Store version is a subscription instead, $24.99 a year or $2.99 a month, and it is still in review. Both come with a 14 day trial. Does anyone know whether the App Store version keeps working after you stop paying, or if it locks up? That is the part that decides which one is actually the better deal.
tapbots ' page half answers this. Direct comes with "you will always own the last version you paid for," so you can skip udpate years. The App store version has no ownership language at all, so assume it locks when you stop paying.
Why would I ever pay for this when these features are included in Raycast for free?
You have to pay for Raycast ’s pro subscription if you want to unlock the whole clipboard functionality. Last time I checked, $39 is substantially cheaper than $96
For most people you are right, Raycast clipboard history is free, keeps three months, and pins entries. The gap is sequential paste and organized pastebins with filters. If you never stack several clippings to paste in order, Raycast covers you and Pastebot is redundant. If you do that daily, that is the whole reason it exists.
If this works on iOS I am in, but cannot find in App Store.
They are interested in creating an iOS app as well.
There isn’t a separate iOS app according to Tapbots. Pastebot 3 is Mac-only, but it integrates with Apple’s Universal Clipboard: copies from your iPhone are imported into Pastebot on the Mac, and Pastebot clippings can be pasted on the iPhone. The listed iCloud Sync is between Macs, not iOS devices.
Calcbot next please. I still use it constantly on iOS. It’s a shame the Mac version is broken.
They are considering to refresh Calcbot across all platforms, though they seem really busy with a new Bluesky client and OS 26 updates.
So sad that my favorite clipboard history app has moved to subscription. And pricing structure for a year of free updates is basically just an annual subscription in disguise. Time to uninstall and find something new… But I’ll probably just stick with the simple clipboard history now built into macOS.
As you might know, Tapbots does not update apps frequently. Since you had v2, you can upgrade to lifetime for a discount. You are supporting a company that has one app making them a living, having just updated an app from 2017. 2017 is different from 2026 in terms of everything, including pricing.
I like the design, very neat and the native feel is earned! Great product to boot.
Good to see it back from the dead after all these years. For anyone stuck on older macOS since v3 needs Tahoe . Maccy is a decent free stopgap in the meantime.

I used Pastebot many years ago before I switched to Paste App, that got continuously developed during the last years. I’ll definitely take a look at PB3 but honestly, there is nothing missing whilst using Paste and it’s even cheaper.

Would be cool if it could also function as text expander, replacing predefined keywords you type (anywhere) with a pastebin. Then I wouldn't have to run a separate app for just that. The native text expansions don't work everywhere unfortunately.
