FilesMagicAI V2, AI Files Organizer for mac + Local Renaming + System Cleaner. Lifetime Licenses Offer

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

Hi macapps community, I have launched FilesmagicAI v1 in macapps community few months back. We have been hard at work redesigning and rethinking macos files organization. We have now switched fully to a conversation based organization flow so user can give input to the AI before organization for better and user customized organization structure if needed. Also we have added System Cleaner and Rename feature. Problem Keeping a Mac organized still takes too much time and manual effort like sorting through files, organizing files manually, removing duplicates, renaming files and managing storage by deleting unwanted files and unwanted apps. With FilesmagicAI you can automate files organization,Rename all your files based on content with local ai ( Offline Renaming ). Privacy First: Your files or folder Content never leaves your mac. Only filenames are sent for ai organization structure during file organization. Magic Rename (Beta): FilesMagicAI comes with Magic Rename feature (Fully Offline = Privacy centric ) which uses local Apple Intelligence model (Need Apple intelligence installed) to check the context of your files locally and suggest a name. No content of files leaves your device. System Cleaner (Beta) Fully Free Under Free Plan : Get back your storage with scanning of following. Duplicate files DMG Installers Unused Apps For Developers: Node Modules Flutter Projects Grandle cache cleaner Xcode Cache & Archives cleaner Comparison Hazel and Finder Smart Folders are the go-to alternatives. Both are powerful but depend entirely on rules you define upfront, if your situation changes, you rebuild your rules. Sparkle is a close competitor. FilesmagicAI is the best alternative to Sparkle ai organizer as they don't have many features of Filesmagicai like Local Renaming before organization. FilesmagicAI plans is also cost effective compared to all other ai based file organizers. FilesMagicAI v2 takes a different approach with a conversational file chat agent interface. You tell it what you want in plain language and it acts dynamically, no rule configuration required. I've asked this of others in the past, so I'll ask here again as you seem to be moving in this direction... can I use your app to rename files and folders based on examples that I give it? I think we're getting close to apps that can more intelligently rename and organize things like media files (music, movies, etc) that can often a bit of a mess coming from various sources. I'd love to not have to tidy all that up manually, especially if I have a system and it takes a lot of repetition. Obviously this can apply to other types of documents and files, but media collections are where my mind goes first. Would be great if I could point to a couple of folders that use a particular naming convention, and have an app recognize that, refine some parameters, and apply those rules (after some non-destructive test runs of course) to other folders of similar files. Feel free to reach out if that's what your "magic" rename is, or is looking to be. As an aside... it seems like it's time to get out of the rut that is all the apps that just offer to move a photo into a photos folder :) I grew up with computers so I've had decades of realizing things work best when well-ordered and done so according to your personal tastes or needs. It's time I had some real help – otherwise, it's best done slowly and manually so I know it's done right. Happy to be surprised though, and I feel like that day is coming.

With FilesMagicAI Chat AI Agent, Yes you can suggest the ai the exact structure example you want to create for organization. For rename it suggest based on content of the file. Example: Create 4 main folders with finance, text, video, audio as main folder Or a tree structure. As we use rename based on content of the file before organization , the file will be moved to any type of structure you like after renaming. You can also skip the renaming process and only choose to organize it.

The local renaming part is the most interesting bit to me. One question: before the app renames or moves files, does it show a full preview/diff of the planned changes? For file organization tools, I’d be much more comfortable if there’s a review step and an easy undo path.

Would be best if you integrate 7zip/rar and other compression file types built in extractor/compressor

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

Yes. We are working on it. We have already built this in our other app Quick Folder Preview. We will integrate this in the future in FilesMagicAI.

I don’t often need to rename a ton of files, but it might be interesting to make a Mac automation that adds descriptions to screenshots as they are captured.

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

A good suggestion. It does extract content of a screenshot and use local ai to suggest a file name for your screenshots when using the magic rename feature

does it actually move files or just suggest where they should go? ive been burned by auto-organize apps that just dump everything into random folders and make it worse

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

Its a problem with other ai organizers but not with FilesmagicAI as its ai chat based you can chat with the ai files agent to get the suggested organization folder. It first shows you a preview of how the files will be organized which you can customize by clicking customize button and then after you are okay with it click on Organize now button then only the files will be moved. Also you can choose which files to move or not organize using the Exclude files or folders option before the organization. Also you can click restore to restore all files to it's original location of a previous organisation.

u/HealthyRaise8389

Does it also auto organises things based on my preferences? or I have to run it manually every time to organise things?

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

FilesmagicAI will auto organize files based on your preferred folder structure which you can customize before giving approval and before starting organization.

Hi guys, Gowtham here co-founder of 1dot.ai. Let me know if you have any questions and feedback for FilesMagicAI.

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

Magic rename: Local renaming uses apple intelligence to get context of files before renaming suggestion so your content never leaves your device.

Do you have features such as history tracking or version control? That would be really useful, since there have been times when we couldn’t find a file. With version control, we could recover previous versions and avoid losing work.

u/Ok-Organization5910OPReply

You mean like github but for your files. That would be a good feature but will be a huge task. We will discuss internally whether this will suit our software.
