Does anyone have any recommendations for an app I can use to track job appications?
Currently out of work and have to apply for a bunch of jobs. I'm looking for something I can use to track what I have applied for. I have an app called JobSnail but it's not very good.

Wouldn't an Excel (or other spreadsheet app) table be good enough for that? Or let me ask: what do you expect the app to do?
Yeah, true. A spreadsheet would work. I guess I'm just used to having an app for everything.
But do also use AI - it helps with a lot of things in the process (not so sure with the tracking though - see viral videos with ChatGPT counting to 200).
This is literally what i fallbacked to a year and a half ago. Just a simple shert with name, link, few more useful columns and no overthinking.
I recently built an agent with Claude that does this. It finds jobs, rewrites me resume specific to the job as well as give me a starting point for any screening questions. It then saves everything in a database. If you ask Claude to build something similar I’m sure you can arrive at what you want
Claude has been my personal assistant for everything. The scheduler is such a great feature.
Fully agree. But does it help with tracking (what OP asked for)?
Notion works really well for this if you want something more structured than a spreadsheet. you can build a simple database with columns for company, role, date applied, status, and notes. filter by status to see what's pending follow-up. free tier is more than enough for job hunting. good luck with the search.
What I’ve done for years every time I got laid off was take a base template I created long ago in AirTable and keep that up to date. New lay off, copy the template and use from there. That way I can customize what info I need/want to track.
I found Tracklytics to be super helpful, native, and I always use it personally to track my applications as well. Moreover, dev is super cool
Sent dev a couple messages recently and seems he’s MIA. I had paid for a yearly subscription but I saw recently the app was pulled from the App Store. Wonder what happened?
oh damn, I just noticed it... I have no idea about this until now. I will try to send him an email and will update here if I get any replies back ✌️
I’d actually suggest using Claude/Codex + a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet works as a lightweight database for tracking companies, roles, dates, status, notes, follow-ups, links, etc. Then Claude/Codex can help with the job search itself: improving your CV, tailoring cover letters, preparing for interviews, and even helping you keep the tracker organized and update the spreadsheet. With the right context, it can also learn your background and writing style, so the applications sound more like you instead of generic AI
It’s a web app but I used Teal
i dont think there are any apps can beat google sheet in this case. trust me.
One thing that made a plain tracker useful for me was treating next action as its own field, not just status. I would track: company, role, source, date applied, status, contact, next action, next action date, salary/range, and notes. Then sort by next action date each morning. It keeps applied-and-forgotten applications from turning into a black hole, no matter whether the tracker is Numbers, Excel, Notion, or a small dedicated app.
You’ll find some cool apps when you sleuth on the App Store. JobSnail hasn’t been satisfactory. I’m currently using the free version of Huntr.
Excel?
Google Sheet
Just use notion
we had someone here in the sub. i helped him a bit. search!

only works for gmail but yeah you can use it if you're sick of updating spreadsheets! (tad biased as I'm the founder)
Someone please vibe code it.
I've seen JobSnail discussed here. https://www.jobsnail.app/
