Soulver vs Numi, is Soulver worth $59?

Apple Notes now does calculations. It’s good enough for occasional use.

Soulver has a 30 day trial so no need to decide blind. Biggest difference for me is variables — change one line and everything below updates. Numi's been abandoned for years. If $59 is too much it goes on sale a few times a year.

I'm still using Numi, but it's an abandoned product. I'm itching to get Soulver but at the price I'm waiting for a sale to happen

Soulver's parser is just smarter. Line references and mixed unit stuff like $120 a day for 3 weeks in eur work without thinking about syntax. Numi choked on that kind of thing for me That said Numi covers 90% of quick math. Try it free first If you barely calculate the $59 buys you nothing tbh

Try antinote, is around 15$ and does much more

I'm waiting for the iOS version of Antinote. Soulver syncing between Mac and phone was what I liked and why I bought an earlier version, but $59 is expensive for a calculator/spreadsheet. Maybe if I see a good sale price…

i'd use the 30-day trial on one real worksheet rather than compare feature lists. make a small page with taxes or percentages, unit and currency conversions, and one named variable reused below, then change an input near the top. if the downstream lines update cleanly and the page is still readable a week later, Soulver is earning its price. if you mostly type one-off sums, Numi or Apple Notes is probably enough. also test copy/export before deciding so you know the result fits the rest of your workflow.

Not a fan of numi. It doesnt work well for me. I need quick line teferences and ability to do subtotals, etc easily. Soulver is great and ive had it since version 2. Is it worth 60? Nope. But i like the sync with ios

I’ve used Soulver for years. I upgraded to the latest version. I don’t use it often, but when I need it I really need it and it works great.

Numi hasn't had a real update in years, so you're comparing an active app against a mostly frozen one. For me that would matter more than the price gap. Cheapest way to settle it is to run the Soulver trial on your actual work for a week or two and notice how often you reach for it instead of Spotlight or the calculator. That answers it better than any of us can from here.

Soulver is the GOAT

Worth it, now it’s a unified licence covering multiple devices. Might be a steep upfront price but if you use it significantly then get it. If you only occasionally use it, Numi and Apple Notes
