Tacque — adding satisfying typing sounds back to macOS

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tacque/id6778518424 We went from typewriters to silent laptops. Tacque brings the sound of typing (mechanical) back to macOS — soft thocks, sharp clacks, everywhere you type. Features: Multiple keyboard sound profiles Low-latency audio (feels instant) Works across all apps on macOS Simple, minimal setup And yes — Tacque is completely free. There’s a small tip jar in Settings if you’d like to buy me a coffee - otherwise enjoy🙂 Would love feedback — especially on new sound ideas or new features!

It's funny how people are now coming up with another 100 alternatives to Klack. Vibecoding just to get some money from it. . There are already too many clipboard managers

Exactly. It's really sad that these vibe coders don't even bring any original ideas to the table. Most of these apps these days are just low effort blatant copycats. It's way too easy these days to ship a cheap clone. I feel bad for indie devs like Henrik Ruscon who build apps with polish and care, and then some people just use AI and spin up a cheaper clone. Hope people do start realizing this and be original.

so you’re saying nothing like Klack (2023) existed before it? lmao KeyBell (2020) https://apps.apple.com/us/app/keybell-mechanical-keyboard/id1530838633 Loud Typer (2020) https://apps.apple.com/us/app/loud-typer/id1493508558 this concept is nothing new I used to use a similar app (not available anymore) like this on my intel mac back when I was in high school.

Is this another copycat of the Klack app on the mac app store?

u/EvasionPATOPReply

didn’t you see the description? it’s literally right there: free alternative to Klack

u/genius1soum

There's Thock that does this. How is yours different? It's not only free but open source

Hi and wanted to let you know that it is nice and the sound is good... used it and in my case it keeps going back to silent..... I have to relaunch it and then it works again for some time and then it goes back to the normal mode.. is this common or is there something I am missing

u/EvasionPATOPReply

go in the settings, toggle off #2 and #3 and it should work as expected

u/Downtown-Art2865

Which of your profiles feels the most different from Klack in practice?

u/Alternative_Date5389

sad to see that your only differentiator is « it’s free », believe me this is not a good differentiator and you don’t want to target this audience. what will motivate you when you need to fix bugs, keep building, improve the product etc for people that didn’t pay you a dime for it but yet complain and ask for more ? anyway, there is better use of AI than copying another indie product, this is really counterproductive, and if you’re an indie dev, you should have realized that yourself

u/EvasionPATOPReply

I get your point but even if I spent weeks building something more feature rich and posted it cheap or free I feel like the reaction in some places would still be the same nitpicking and dragging it down instead of actually giving useful feedback. My idea was always to start simple and improve it over time over feedback. Some people here just seem to find reasons to put devs down no matter what, just look at any post no wonder the mods had to add this caution.

u/CurrentRisk

Does not Klack do this? I'm always paranoid about keyloggers when these products.
