It's ridiculous that I find this useful post with -2 downvotes. This kind of reply takes a lot of time to write. It's basically a post, and it's all done to help readers with zero personal gain. I am hoping that doesn't discourage you -- even a small bit.

bought FAF in a bundle like 3 years ago and it’s still the first thing I install on a new mac
I bought FAF a long time ago and then again around 3 years ago when I lost the license for my first one. I'm sure I could have gotten it re-established, but preferred to give the dev another small amount for all the work he does. I will always use FAF.

A lot of people mentioning faf - it gets me interested, but can it do what I hope it can do? I want to be able to do a boolean search of the contents of document files like .docx. For example, “find all .docx files under the “Client Project” which contain instances of the word “good*” appearing within 5 words of the word “case”?
Almost. You cannot search in documents unless they contain the text in plain characters (though FAF can also search inside zipped files). PDFs are not searchable, markdown, xml and Word files are. But you can only search if a string of characters exist in it, multiple times, anywhere. But you cannot search for them in relation to each other unless you use regex expressions. FAF originally only searched for file name and other directory attributes. Text content search was added later with those limitations, as it's not FAF's main focus. And it's difficult to communicate this limitation. See the website.
Isn't Easyfind as efficient as FAF?
Somewhat, yes. EF uses similar low level functions for the search. In fact, originally FAF was faster than EF because FAF used the special CatalogSearch function. Back then, FAF was still free just like EF and so I contacted the EF devs (I know the boss from the 90s, Atari ST times) to use it as well. But apart from that, FAF has many more search features and display modes than EF. See my website. I still recommend EF if you don want to spend any money or if you prefer a single window UI (which will come to FAF 3 as well; I have that already halfway working).

Scrutiny is awesome. Picked it up this morning, and it highlighted a few (albeit minor) issues on our website which I was able to fix quickly. It's picked up things that no other tool did.
Bundlehunt has really gone down the tubes. It used to have some pretty good deals on top tier apps but now it’s just a collection of $5 apps selling for $2, nothing to get excited over.
Some of that is tied to the market. Selling software as an indie isn't what it used to be in a world where more and more companies and vendors are moving to subscriptions and Cloud solutions. I like to own my software, not rent it.
That’s not accurate. The first few apps listed are $60 reduced to $7, $50 reduced to $5 and $34 reduced to $6.
HazeOver and Find Any File (FAF) are the most worth buying in this bundle.
Funny, those are the 2 that I bought today.
There are a few apps that I own licenses of, and of which I can say they are worth considering: SupaSidebar, Find Any File (FAF) and HazeOver. ScreenMemory has good reviews on MacUpdate. TaskPaper as well (don't own a license of these) Apps I'm curious about: AudioBo (Audiobook Maker), Ebook Converter Ultimate (which is not made by Epubor). So if you have experience with one of these, I'd love to read more about it. Not my cup of tea are the apps by Digiarty Software (MacXvideo Al, MacX MediaTrans, MacX DVD Ripper Pro). I own licenses for them but they are virtually unusable imo. - edit: text improvement
I just bought FaF based on the recommendations here, it seems like a nice little app. I also purchased the Duplicate File Finder, as I was using the free version and it does the job.
HazeOver is a solid app. Use it everyday. $1 is a steal lol
For anyone interested in Painter by Corel, the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2025 (Mac / 1 Device) (Lifetime License / Global) may be interesting too. It is available for $15.20 at Gamers Outlet. Btw, they also sell Microsoft Office 2021 Home and Business for Mac for $18.20 and the 2024 version for $60.24. Disclaimer: No affiliation, I'm just a customer that received their newsletter today. I bought Microsoft Office 2021 Home and Business there two years ago.
Has anyone tried Command-Tab Plus 2? It seems identical to AltTab (free). While iClip may not look like much, i rely on it and use it every day. Probably my most-used piece of indie software.
Thanks for this post! I was able to get Duplicate File Finder for a few bucks. I used the free version a few weeks ago and it's great!
Just a warning on the app Ebook Converter Ultimate. It does not de-DRM Kindle books. This is not stated in the description on Bundlehunt. I already bought the app, asked for a refund, which was done within 24 hours. Great service of Bundlehunt I must say!
