Alternative for the “Later” App

Full contextOriginal content · Reddit

I've seen a post here from a while ago saying that the app "later" is basiscally abandonware now and is not being actively maintained. What's a good alternative which I can use to save desktops with specific app window layouts etc Thanks a lot in advance

Snaps of Apps or Rectangle Pro both work great across Spaces and multiple displays. https://appaddict.app/post/snapsofapps-has-new-powerful-features

I use a Keyboard Maestro macro to run layout commands for all my Spaces sequentially.

I‘m actually creating my own list of Mac apps to install onto my new machine soon. And coincidentally, I have been researching about window/tiling manager, workspace manager today. As it is not done yet, and writing it in Obsidian, I am sharing the note link here. I will share the whole list ASAP!

Shoutout to u/crustpatrol for his dedicated MacosWM website. Maybe take a look at it!

I used Later mostly because it is simple. For me the important thing is quick hide and restore, not another window manager with many rules. Curious what alternatives people suggest here.

Mango does exactly this. save your current window layout and restore it with one click. been using it for a while and it's pretty solid. Mosaic is another option if you want something with more rules and automation built in.

Seems like the post is duplicated. I have commented the same in other post as well: Im the developer of Lattix and I built it to solve the same problem. With the latest update, you can configure apps to open in multiple spaces/desktops. Ive also added the feature to name the spaces and also ultrafast space switching as well. I posted about 2.0 update here if you want to check it out
