Asking for a friend who runs an e-commerce store and is currently in a bit of a pricing war with a few competitors. He wants to automatically monitor his competitors' prices so he can react fast when they drop or change something without having to manually check every day. Does something like this exist as a Shopify or WooCommerce app?

If the competitor's on Shopify, you can easily get the the XML sitemap most of the time and automate very simple scraper. This is something that can get blocked (and best practice is that it is blocked) but you'd be surprised how many websites don't pay much attention to request limiting as a minimum which leaves them very scrapeable. If he's able to do this, the rest is creativity — set up a cronjob to run at fixed intervals, limit the products to monitor, map in own products, set up minimum matching prices and add auto-updates, send email notification on scrape failures etc. Sky is the limit Honestly, for something as important as price matching I think he should not, under any circumstances, leave this to a third party closed source app that he has no idea how it works and that cannot be fine-tuned for his specific needs.
