Update: I was wrong. The Hallmark Card Studio for Mac is actually perfectly fine and it works well for me! Context: M3 Max 16 inch MacBook Pro with macOS 26.5 ====== Back when we used a Windows laptop we used Hallmark Studio, but according to the reviews for the Mac version on Amazon, it's not great on Macs. So what is a good choice? I would prefer to NOT pay for a subscription, if possible. From what AI has told me, that probably rules out Canva. Thank you!

Hallmark Studio is rather "old" looking with a dated interface but it works just fine on a Mac, at least on mine. The latest version runs on Tahoe. I don't know why the reviews are so negative to be honest. I have plenty of design apps, but for simplicity and the large selection of premade cards (which are fully editable) I find it preferable just to use Hallmark Studio for most of this. And at $19 for the upgrade/crossgrade it's a steal. That said, two things: As u/jamiegal mentioned, Swift Publisher also is something to consider. If you have an auto-duplex printer I've found the best way to print from Hallmark Studio is to save to PDF and then print the PDF from Preview.

Maybe Swift Publisher. It has a free trial.
Canva has a really generous free tier fwiw. Might be all you need
