I have 2 manual shipping options. Very simply, my cheapest one should not be my default - as it brings me complications I want to choose my default and let the user pick the cheaper one if they prefer therefore i want to simply manually re-order my shipping…

Very simply, my cheapest one should not be my default - as it brings me complications I want to choose my default and let the user pick the cheaper one if they prefer therefore i want to simply manually re-order my shipping options is this natively possible? no (why? are they stupid) is this possible by me coding something? no, its hardcoded right in there is there an app i can use? yes, but none are simple - all are over-engineered price hogs Please someone, guide me to the simple 'just re-order your shipping options' app without a lot of extra BS thrown in for $50 a month I will never use

I usually use HideShip for that. It’s a bit overkill if it’s just for reordering the shipping options, but it works. Hopefully this will be possible natively in the future.
Hideship was one of the first ones i tried - reordering is on the advanced plan I have to skip so much unneeded convoluted functions just to get to this simple function I can’t even figure it out :(
I think it should also work on the premium plan. I agree it’s a bit messy and difficult to understand. Just let their support handle it. It should be quick for them. If you or anyone else finds a better or cheaper app, I’m all ears. It’s a bit annoying to have to ask my clients to pay $4 a month just to sort shipping options…
From my investigation it seemed like checkout blocks were Plus only
I will be running into the same thing for wholesale - my solution is a big notice that says 'we will invoice you the correct shipping afterwards' - manual shipping invoices is all i could think of Btw - minimum order quantity not being available on wholesale is also bogus (shopify advanced - i am sure its there on plus)
lol, that is quite the assumption, but I will explain i operate in South Africa - there are 3 shipping options cheapest - to a locker - lets call it 70 medium - pickup at kiosk - 90 delivery to door - 110 75% of my clients want it delivered to Door, as they don't have an account with the locker nor the pickup provider - or there isn't a locker or pickup close to where they stay or work none of these companies have integrated shopify apps, and South Africa is not served by global shipping apps like the 1st world so, when i have my cheapest as first, most people default to it without looking and it delays shipping cause we have to contact them with 'you chose the wrong option, please deposit 40 to get your order shipped' I am sure you understand, at 1000 orders a month or so - that is an actual barrier to delivery

Interesting scenario. Unfortunately you can't build custom apps for modifying shipping rates without being on Plus. Hope you can find a cheap app in the app store to do this for you.

Checkout Blocks is my go to for this. Not sure if you need Plus for it though

Have you tried the OCT Hide Shipping Methods app? It’s way cheaper, does the job, and isn’t loaded with a bunch of stuff you’ll never use. Pretty solid value for under $4 a month.
Sounds like more of a business problem. Why does that rate cause complications? Why not change it? Don't most customers change to the cheapest rate anyway? Forcing a more expensinve default is just causing more barrier to purchase. I can understand the frustration of wanting to do something that sounds simple, but there's a good reason shopify defaults to the cheapest rate.
Even if you re-order the shipping rates into a different order, Shopify will still by default select the cheapest one for the customer. You might assume that Shopify selects the first shipping rate by default and that the order of shipping rates is the pivotal part, but it's not. No customization or function can modify this default behavior, so your customers would still need to pick a more expensive option manually with your desires order established.
I’ve been following this thread and hear the frustration—it’s a massive pain point when Shopify defaults to the cheapest shipping rate regardless of how you order them.
