I use Insta in my browser. Works well enough to view dms, but nowhere near smooth enough to keep me trapped

idk if ig has this natively but youtube has a setting where you can disable scrolling on shorts after one video like that. i just deleted ig to solve that problem but if you have like group chats and dont wanna give out your number i think you can use other apps to just message on instagram. I remember doing that a long time ago on PC but I couldn't tell you if the api still allows that sort of thing outside messenger?

I like using this app for blocking. It can block reels specifically as well but I don't know if it would let you watch just one from a dm. You can always unblock through the app but you can also set it so you have to wait 60 seconds or more before unblocking which is enough to just make you not want to lol. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wverlaek.block
