I wish there was a Zillow plug in or an app to review houses after viewing them. *long post*
I know, I know. I’m gonna make some people feel all tingly in a bad way. Just hear me out. People should know what they’re walking into and how full of shit the listing agent may or may not be. I’m also over going to a showing and the listing agent knows…
I know, I know. I’m gonna make some people feel all tingly in a bad way. Just hear me out. People should know what they’re walking into and how full of shit the listing agent may or may not be. I’m also over going to a showing and the listing agent knows “nothing” about the home. Seriously, SERIOUSLY HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW. Roof? Idk. Septic? Idk. Flooding? Idk. Where’s the property end? Idk. HVAC? Idk (it’s 2015 we found it ourselves). Water heater? Idk. What conveys with the property? Idk. Is that someone’s easement? Idk. WHY IS THERE SEVERAL TONS OF BEESWAX IN A MACHINE IN THE BARN?! “Idk”. 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐 We looked at a home today. You know what the listing description read? “Fully renovated and remodeled”. I would like to know what drugs they’re on. Seriously. Someone call my doctor because that level of delusion is worth a prescription. The wood rot on the front and back porch is so bad you can see entire chunks of wood missing. The toilet is old, the entire bathroom is outdated and worn heavily. The visible part of the foundation has some kind of massive chunks taken out of it (I’m not an engineer idk how the hell that happens) and coincidentally that part of the home is settling/sinking/lower than the rest whatever you want to call it. The washer is in the kitchen, the dryer is in the hallway. The air handler with filter has also been converted into a tiny pantry so idk how tf to deal with that I feel like it’s not handling much air when it’s behind a closed door and some beans. Oh the roof, how’s the roof? The paint is peeling off so hard it almost looks intentional like they wanted a vintage look. How old is it? I don’t know, because the listing agent didn’t know. “What’s this giant piece of industrial equipment taking up 1/4 of the barn?” Dude doesn’t know. I figured it out. It’s a BEESWAX BOILER that’s approx 15’ tall. It is full of beeswax, that was cool. Not useful and not operational but if you like beeswax I’ll give you the address. Buy yourself a sheep farm with a beeswax machine. They don’t have bees…but there’s literally a ton of beeswax just solid in a machine. Can’t make this up. Anyway. The listing says “VA eligible” the VA wouldn’t approve that house even if a Disney Fairy waved a wand and Christina Aguilera rubbed a Genie lamp at the same time while my Native uncle did a dance in the front yard next to an entire field of lucky four leaf clovers being farmed by the Lucky Charms leprechaun. Part of the kitchen was redone and the living room was redone. I’ll give them that. Oh, and the owners are trying to move to Alaska within 30 days meanwhile there’s two semi trucks under overgrown brush with trailers attached. 60 sheep, 8 dogs. And tons of pieces of random, huge metal farm equipment covering probably 2 acres next to the barn. I wanna know how that’s gonna get cleaned up. Because you know damn well it won’t. The listing agent confidently said we can put into the contract that it has to be removed before closing. LOLOLOL OK SURE. I’ll believe that like I’ll believe flat earthers on meth at 6am outside the Circle K. You know what that listing should have said? “As is cash offers only. Settled foundation, needs other improvements. New kitchen. Huge barn. Beeswax lover’s wet dream”. 🐝 💦

Omg we saw a hoarder house about a month ago… there were flies all over the windows and I didn’t go inside. Like do I look like I wanna be on “the first 48” to y’all?!
I’d settle for just realistic non altered photos!
Yeah I saw one that was like, lush green pastures. Got there and everything was dead & straight dirt. Like ??? You AI’d grass ?!?!
You’re welcome. 😅❤️ Also honestly yeah, that would be an insane reality show or even a phenomenal idea for a YouTube Channel. I’m not sure the legalities that might surround it but if you’re lawfully allowed within a home, filming the home’s condition should be legally protected I would think. I’m sure it’d become a court battle but it’s reasonable and prudent that one would show the actual condition of a property versus the falsifications within a listing
You’re welcome ☺️☺️☺️☺️ I’m one hell of a crash out sometimes
LOL I want it to be mandatory to have floor plans and I want comment section for house on realtor ect. I think the feedback is good for the seller "yuck smells like dog, had to leave it was so bad" "clearly was a Hoarder house, recently" "over priced for where it is ect"
About the comment section. Problem with that is malicious actors. Systems like that are too easily manipulated and abused.
I want to be able to comment on listing photos!
I was just thinking this. I would love a way to mark the ones I looked at already and get it out of rotation.
Yea this is one of those things that sounds good but you just can’t happen. Imagine people leaving false reviews to drive the price down and they put in a reduced offer or lawsuits over things that are posted
Imagine if your home was on the market and allowed people to leave reviews?
Great idea! Oh, wait. Someone who wants the house but not at the asking price can post BS reviews to steer buyers away, but that's OK because the seller and their friends can post awesome reviews. Even better, they can BUY reviews for next to nothing. Online reviews are largely BS, no matter what's being reviewed.
OP I have to give it to you. The bit about the VA, Disney, Xtina and her genie lamp AND the Lucky Charms leprechaun is the funniest thing I've read today. Thanks for making me laugh.
Okay I just read the full original post and can I just say THANK YOU that was entertaining. 😂 That might be a fun HGTV show, listing vs reality
We looked at a place and every joint in the copper plumbing was covered in a thick wad of white scale corrosion. Maybe there's an electrical current in the pipes, or galvanic corrosion? I have no idea but it was bad enough for us to immediately walk. Nothing in the listing or disclosures either. It went under contract yesterday. God, I hope they don't forego inspection.
…. You’ve never been a seller. There needs to be better ways of holding agents accountable for bad/misleading listing photos, inaccurate listing descriptions, etc. The only way to do that currently in my state is to call the agent’s broker, which has varying degrees of success. The absolute last thing we need is the general public hopping onto a site like Zillow criticizing people’s paint colors or their dead grandma’s wallpaper or things they can’t control like it has too many stairs, etc. Putting your house on the market and worrying people who are touring it are going to steal things or pee on the floor (happened to my BIL’S house) is already terrifying, let’s not make it worse. EDIT: Let’s be able to review potential buyers! “Let their snot nosed kids run around unsupervised, knocked over and broke a lamp.” “Used my bathroom, had bad aim and left a puddle of urine on the floor.” “Left dresser drawer open in my daughter’s bedroom, she states some of her underwear is missing.” “Front door left unlocked and several lights were left on after I allowed a showing while I was at work.” -granted that would be on the agent
I make beeswax candles and would be stoked to have the beeswax boiler with wax 💯
I'll make it.
I know this isn't the moral of the story, but beeswax is pretty valuable. Anyway, your idea is great. "VIEWING AFTERMATH". - rate the property you just viewed! A Zillow extension.
Yes! I thought about making a real estate rating app. Comb the MLS and have people rate the listings. Someone should do that.
There should be a comment section on the listings. I could tell open house stories for days. A lady stepped through the rotted wood on a deck at one house. I had seen it was in poor condition and warned my husband not to step there. They ended up putting a traffic cone over it. There was another house that was listed as a two bath. I asked where the second one was since I hadn’t seen it. The realtor told me they listed it as a two bath because there was a sink in the basement so you could add a bath. SMH.
Some of my favorite phrases from actual MLS listings: -- Gas powered heat pump -- Close to everything -- Central ductless air conditioning -- 5225 sq ft (1.2 acre) lot -- Bedrooms big enough for beds -- 240 Amp plug for dryer -- Quiet floors -- All new iron pipes -- Duel sinks -- 10 Megawatt solar system -- Energy efficient wiring -- Working ceiling fans -- Kitchen appliances are new-ish -- Temperature controlled furnace -- Attic on the top floor -- Shared en-suite bath -- Covered garage -- Semi-solid doors -- Outdoor air conditioning box replaced 2025 -- Fireplace does not convey -- Non-leaking skylights
Google street view the hell out of a property before you go see it. Look at it from above too. Sometimes you can tell a lot. Not always.
This is not a new idea. It has been brought up many, many, many times before. You can search this sub for previous posts on the topic. There are very, very good reasons nobody does this. It would be bombarded with trolls and people acting in bad faith.
We are looking for waterfront SFH right now and I cannot tell you the number of places that are listed meeting the requirements but instead they can use a HOA dock 1 mile away and it is actually a condo… why are these idiots not penalized for flat out lying…
