I am a bit of a tech savy. Whenever I used cold turkey, the real problem was I always found a way to circunvent it unless I was too restrictive. Whenever I was too restrive, the blocks would get in the way of productive mode. I understood simply blocking websites in a dumb way is a fool's erand. The alternative would be something as restrict as Cold Turkey, but instead of blocklists or whitelists. You describe to an AI what you wanna do. It can be Bring Your Own Key (your own AI from services like openrouter) I don't mind, I got a lot of requests I can make. But there gotta be something I can do...

Honestly the best way to handle this is usually just learning to live with your own impulses because any software you build to police yourself you can eventually find a way to bypass. Trust me, ive tried building my own "jail" tools and I always ended up being the smartest person in the room outsmarting my own rules. Focus on the habit rather than the lock.

In this landscape, it's like trying to block spam emails. Every product is integrating AI into their products so you won't be able to get away from it without replacing it until that also gets AI

What you’re describing probably needs two layers: a hard block you can’t negotiate with, plus AI for classifying edge cases. Before a session, define the task and a small set of allowed categories; during the session, the AI can approve a specific page but shouldn’t be able to rewrite the whole policy. Otherwise you’ll eventually learn how to prompt your way around it too.
