Shopify can show revenue and order activity clearly, but the actual profit on an order may depend on data somewhere else. Ad spend sits in multiple platforms, product costs change, fulfillment has exceptions, refunds arrive later, and payment fees vary. A store can know exactly what it sold without having one agreed answer for what it earned by product or channel. How are merchants connecting those costs without maintaining another fragile spreadsheet? Would you call that a knowledge graph or decision intelligence problem, or is there another tool or concept that better describes the solution?

In quick books. Accounting software has existed for a long time, that's the tool you are looking for.

……..basic accounting software.

u/Camelback186

We have two systems, one is monthly bookkeeping through our accountant/bookkeeper and one is a custom Daily Cash flow and profit tracking excel sheet we setup, telling us if we’re profitable on a day to day basis.

Accounting software gives you last month's P&L, not whether this SKU on this channel is profitable today — that per-order view is the real gap, and it's more a plumbing problem than a "knowledge graph" one. Which costs are hardest to attribute right now, the ad spend or the post-sale stuff like refunds and fees?

The real challenge is getting all the cost data into one place. For that I've been using Bloom for calculating profit. Because it consolidates costs from different sources into a single dashboard, which gives a much clearer picture of true profitability than Shopify alone.
