I use it because it offers 10 hours per month for free; you can also upload your own PDF, EPUB, and TXT files.

Does it allow other voices than the default? I couldn't find an option to change the default one.

Did you try ElevenLabs? Some voices are paid but you can find good ones for free. You can also try Speechma which is totally free

If you listen to EPUBs or PDFs, you can use Readest; it is free and includes Microsoft Edge's voices.

If you want offline then install sherpha tts or supertonic TTS from github or fdroid.
