Does anyone know of a hardware recording device we could setup in a meeting room that could be configured to record a meeting and upload to the meeting owner? And perhaps be processed by an internal AI solution? Existing tools we have looked into appear to be privacy concerns and have shady AI integrations, sharing everything with everyone. This should be a prominent recording device with a notice of some sort advising users they will be recorded. Sort of like Copilot on Teams, just for in-person meetings. TIA.

You need to configure the intelligent speaker attribution options and ensure the users have their voice print setup.
The people in the meeting aren't users in our tenant, aren't going to create voice prints before every meeting. With the technology available it should just tag "Speaker #" and allow our admin assistant to bulk rename them in the transcript.
Why not a Teams Room device? They have speaker recognition capabilities as long as the user has gone through voice enrollment. if they are not enrolled or unidentified it will simply say "Speaker 1, 2, 3 etc." and you can update. Just record the meeting on teams? Have someone use their phone or laptop to join the in person meeting while everyone is sitting there and let Copilot do the summary
Can you not use teams to record the meeting or a recording app on a laptop or whatever is being used? Then upload the recording into your business' choice AI and have it give notes or minutes?

I don't necessarily agree you should put this on the meeting room side. We are currently implementing on the user side. We first tried Teams Premium but were disappointed with both recognition as well as summary style. We then tried 6 other tools and ended up using HappyScribe. Which we're slowly rolling out to key users atm. You have to connect the app to the users Outlook once, after which it auto joins meetings as an attendee. After the meeting it will send you (or any attendee, how you like) an email with a summary. What I do love is that you're fully in control with the style of the summary, which you can fine-tune both by fixed sections as well as using a prompt. Recognition is top notch in English, and kinda good in my own language. Speaker attribution could be better although I haven't seen solutions that are perfect on that side. They also have a customizable notification that you're recording, so there's that.
I tried the Teams thing in a large conference room with some pokycom equipment and it did not work well at all. Since everyone was in the room and not on a teams meeting it didn't know who any of was. Transcription took a long time to complete and was pretty hit or miss in some instances. But that was my experience with the equipment we had.
one mic in the middle of the room will transcribe fine and hand you a wall of text with no names on it, which is what makes the notes useless. teams rooms gets round that with voice enrollment per user. if you go self hosted youre into a mic array plus diarization, and it still guesses wrong the moment two people talk over each other.
