Toilet seat with lid that I can sit on

It is 2026 so is there a toilet seat that will withstand the lid being used as a seat? I can't be the only consumer who needs this! Due to small size of bathroom, I must sit down to put on eye makeup. Willing to pay more for something that will last or any other tips!

Probably “dear husband”. I’m not sure where this shorthand originated, but it’s old as dirt. Well, maybe early 20th century dirt? Advice column submissions in newspapers and the like used it a lot.
Will add it is often used both in sincere and sarcastic manners, and the D has also been extended to things like som and daughter (my DS and DS). It’s always felt cringey ass hell, like the people who overuse “mama” with people other than their own kids (think, “hey mamas anyone have..”) or hun.
I have one from Bath Royale that works fine AND has an easy-remove feature for easier cleaning.
I'm 35 and have sat on every toilet seat I've ever owned. Never had an issue.
I broke one at my ex's parents house by sitting on it while they were on vacation. I had to replace it and they asked about it later. I think I'm a normal weight

Can confirm! I recently got one. Was a bit afraid it was going to be like the wooden seats of yore, but it's coated in marine sealer. Love it

My robust toilet seats are from 2007. One broke at the hinge a few years ago, and the soft close feature no longer works (they are heavy, so I'm not surprised), but my very heavy husband can sit in the seat with no issues at all. This is something I'd go to a store for, not online, so the OP can actually see what the seats look like!
Right! The only issue was a solid oak one that my great grandma had, the wood was old and had a split in it. I sat on it after a shower to put a bandage on a blister and when I stood up a single bag wrinkle had managed to press into said crack and when I stood the wood came back together...I needed two Band-Aids that day...

Crazy idea: if you are going to replace it anyway, why not just sit on it until it breaks?

If you're looking to replace it so you can sit on it, just sit on the one you have - if it breaks THEN you replace it. For what it's worth I'm 250lbs and I sit on mine all the time and it's not meant to be sat on - no issues so far and it's been years.

What the hell is a DH?
The molded wood (MDF) ones with white enamel coatings do this fine. We have had one from Kohler and one from Bemis. The only issue with the wood seats is if the paint or poly sealant (in solid wood seats) wears away, and harsh bleach will strip that eventually. Or the hinges break, which can be any seat. I avoid cheap coated metal hinges for this reason and stick to the soft close type.
Is this a BIFL question? Anyway, I wanted more robust toilet seats and lids in places I was renting, where landlords cheap out and buy flimsy plastic seats and lids. Basically any hardware store (and some box stores) sell toilet seats and lids (they're sold together) made of wood with a laminate coating. Much more sturdy and the lid can be used as a seat. They don't cost much. I have no idea how long they hold up though. It's been a few years and mine are going strong.

I would encourage you to go to a plumbing supply house (Ferguson is the biggest US chain but there are probably others in your area), not a big box store. Go to the plumbing supply counter, not the sales display area. The folks behind the counter there know what they sell and whether people complain about it or not.
