How are you handling abandoned cart recovery for customers in MENA/Arab countries?

Email recovery barely works when half your customers don't check email. Curious what other store owners are doing — are you using WhatsApp at all? Any apps actually working for you or is it a mess? Running a store targeting Morocco/Algeria/Egypt and feeling…

Running a store targeting Morocco/Algeria/Egypt and feeling like I'm leaving a lot of money on the table.

We run abandoned cart emails and probably 0.00001% of them actually come back for a sale (MENA region too). I've looked into WhatsApp integration, but the costs for messaging etc are just not worth it. I now just focus on spending the money and effort on tailoring our Google and Meta ads to convert people to spending rather than focusing on the abandoned carts section. Far less effort for much more reward.

Do you structure this within the one flow, or have 3 separate ones?

We keep it as a single flow with delays between each step. It's much easier to manage, avoids duplicate emails, and you can stop the sequence automatically as soon as the customer completes the purchase. Separate flows can get messy unless you have a very specific use case.

We follow a simple 3-step flow. First, send a friendly reminder within an hour of cart abandonment. Then follow up the next day addressing common concerns like shipping, delivery times, or returns. If they still don't convert, send a final reminder 2–3 days later with a small incentive like a coupon or discount. For MENA, WhatsApp tends to perform much better than email when the customer has opted in, so we use that alongside email instead of relying on email alone.

Email's basically dead in that market..WhatsApp is where people actually read and reply, so moving cart recovery there changed everything for me.. I tried different platforms that allow me to handle that easily but I ended up with Wassenger...recovery rate went way up vs any email ever
