Looking for something I can spin up that can help re-balance a retirement portfolio and ideally give me a nice dashboard of all my accounts, loans, and metrics. I have a complicated excel spreadsheet but get concerned it will break one day and some error in a formula will propagate leading me to the wrong conclusions. I've heard of actual budget but I'm not looking to do day-to-day budgeting. More to look at what I have invested in and re-balance my portfolio periodically to suit my targets and ensure I'm on track to retirement over time. Not looking to add another subscription or get live-sync. I can manually update things. Thanks!!

personal I think you will find empower.com will be all you will ever need, just link in your accounts very save they are a large bank, it will pull in you savings, checking, credit cards, brokerage accounts, If you want set a budget, it will track your spending against budget. With your brokerage information it will give you all the dashboards you will ever want.
Personal broker does not let you include all the accounts. Some are limited by what you can synchronize with. Schwab for instance does not allow a retirement account of mine to show up on Schwab.com even though it is automatically integrated into workplace.schwab.com. So I have to set up 'real estate' as a dummy account. But I am looking for more. Like keeping track of how much is in US large cap vs small cap vs international in IRA vs brokerage vs 401k. It doesn't have that kind of granular control (that I can see) based on my understanding. I made a excel spreadsheet utilizing GPT to help (found it more useful than CoPilot, even though thats the one app CoPilot is actually decent at) and it works. But I'm concerned about a formula failing or something like that leading to an error. Don't want a garbage in garbage out situation. I was intimately aware of how the spreadsheet was made but when you don't touch it for months and then go back to it, it is hard to remember all the details sometimes. Maybe I should do a better job documenting it but I was thinking something self hosted might help scratch that itch (and keep data private).
Thanks I'll have to check it out. I just heard about wealth folio (maybe related?) and was going to give that a spin
Thanks. Does what I'm gonna try is wealth folio. Actual budget seemed more geared to budgeting (I dont need that) and less so to dissect finances? I could be wrong.
No you are right, it is more about budgeting, I have some accounts synced automatically into Actual so I know what is growing and what isn't added as 'off budget', but Wealthfolio looks like what we will transition to.
I forgot about wealthfolio. They are two different projects but it doesn't hurt to spin them both up and check them out!
I've actually just started with Actual budget, but in not envelope mode. It is more foor us to plan a bit more towards one retirement in the next couple of years and see how we need to budget for the single wage as we transition to full retirement. It lets you add in super or savings off budget as a bonus so the reports page can be quite useful. The rules are pretty good for budgeting, but that's not what you want. The other one I am going to spin up is Wealthfolio to see what that's like moving forward.
btw, co-pilot in excel is insanely good at building and the charts and reports you want.
I haven't tried it but I know ghostfolio is an open source investment tracker with a FIRE calculator, maybe that's a place to start?
use your broker's tool set, really that way everything is secure. For tracking spending use Empower.com If you want daily how am I doing, google finance is the way to go, create your portfolio, track it, as Gemini for advice if you want AI assistance with it being a stale self-hosted model.
Owl retirement app. I used the docker compose. it’s an app that once in a browser, it does not persist you simply load your case and model your retirement You can have different cases for different circumstances The real advantage is hooking up Claude cowork to the MCP feeding balances and then having Claude run Monty Carlo analyses https://github.com/mdlacasse/Owl
Try using a sync layer like Syncbank and keep using your favourite database app, personally I love Notion, but you can use Google sheets, csv, airtable, and also actual budget
