Hi all, I have a family member in constant care and the caregivers are giving us daily reports which are consistently handwritten on a printed spreadsheet for hourly or special events. I would love to host an instance which allows to be fed these reports, transcribe them, so we can search for keywords to see if any event has happened before or not, and open the scanned report. And if not just look at them in a timeline. I know paperless-ngx exists but I'm looking for something with a much simpler UI. But more importantly, I've been searching for handwritten OCR tools and I find mostly VLMs, have we reached a peak in this sector that we need vision AI for this?

I second this. I‘ve seen „Papra“ getting more and more recognition lately but haven‘t personally tried it out so far. At least the UI looks cleaner/simpler than Paperless on the first glance… https://github.com/papra-hq/papra
Paperless NGX for anything selfhosted in this area. Seems like medical documents so not a great idea to just slap some unknown solution to this.
