i've seen some tools online, but i only really need one for computers/laptops and to track the owner and the specs of the device. sadly, the tools are too complex for our requirements that's why im thinking to just build a simple one
+1 for SnipeIT. Absolutely love it.
Make sure you consider the total cost of ownership, not just the cost of starting up. Opensource removes a lot of reliance on you personally going forward so is often better for the company in the longer term. If its a fun side project for a learning experience, fill your boots, but from the businesses perspective, you need to consider things like long term support, hosting etc.
Search for OSS It asset management tools. There are few
Microsoft Power Apps
+1 for snipeIT.
SnipeIT was made for this. Easy to interface with python scripts in the future too. Home - Snipe-IT Free open source IT asset management May find other options on this great list: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted I'm affiliated with neither.
Surely building your own is more effort long term rather than just learning how to use the tool
