Amex Schwab Platinum or CST

Amex Platinum for Schwab vs Chase Sapphire Reserve for a ~$15K engagement ring — and should I close my Amex Gold or Schwab Investor Card? I really do like the Amex/schwab ecosystem.

Amex Schwab.. Customer service on both sides is amazing.. Had to call both in one day and was surprised how awesome they are.. Edit: I recommend keeping Schwab Investor. It a rare no annual fee card with extended warranty and purchase protection. Amex gold will depend on spending. PS: I have Schwab Plat and Investor card 😎

I like the CPP into the brokerage and gold is definitely great for groceries but I’d prefer to only have two cards and don’t wanna pay for both.

Understandable. I don’t have a dog in the fight as far as the investor card goes, but if your main move is investing points rather than transferring points out, then the answer to the first question is CS plat. Helps it has some decent purchase protections as well.

Tough to say. What do you use points for? Do you redeem more at the 1.1 CPP into a brokerage or do you transfer points out more? And then which airline do you typically fly, hotel stay at, etc? Can’t speak on the Schwab investor car, but I do love my gold for racking up points on my two biggest spend categories, groceries and dining.

I think we are in same crossroads of keeping it simple. I'm down to my last few cards after slowly canceling and trying new cards. Are you think of running Schwab as your two main cards?
