i hate modern designs and how theres a flatscreen tv in new models. where have the charming cars gone? anyway, for styling ref; I really like the aston martin db9 (interior and exterior), mazda miata 1st gen (cute design overall) and the mercedes W123, R129 and R230 (everything about them lol). I wanted to get a 2003 r230 but my friend says it will break down even if I get a relatively low mileage one esp with the parts in case it breaks down etc I need replacements. additionally would be nice if anyone had experience with getting classic luxury cars and how they’ve held up esp if you use them as everyday cars pls thank you!

Honestly, with those references you're looking for something with actual character, not just a badge. The R129 SL is probably the sweet spot, those M113 V8s are shockingly tough and the design has aged into pure class. Parts are still floating around and any decent Mercedes specialist can keep one humming without much drama.

so the r129 is more reliable than the r230? i wouldve assumed the later models would be better (2000s compared to the 80s etc) tysm!!

The later sl320s are good to, hard to find but the later post 97 with the real 5 speed not the 4 speed with overdrive are great
