Hello, I've been noticing some spikes in my gameplay as I've been using my gaming PC, so I figured it is time to upgrade something, but I don't know what. What I am mainly looking to upgrade is either the GPU or CPU as I know I am fine in the other specs. This is a Mid Tower case. GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070Ti CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 Motherboard: TUF Gaming B550-Plus Wifi II RAM: 16gb x 4 sticks, Storage: Samsung 2TB + 1TB The types of games I expect to play are more modern, so newer Yakuza titles, RDR2, Zenless Zone Zero, all on 4k60fps. Given the 4k, the only thing you can upgrade is gpu. Id recommend the 9070xt if you care more about cost then you do ray tracing/path tracing. If you care more about lighting then money, id recommend a 5080. 5070ti is a few hundred less but the price is so close you may as well go 5080
This and ram mostly, if the person wanna squeeze the last out of AM4 i suppose 5800x3D wouldn't hurt if affordable.
I don’t notice a lot of my memory being used, so I’ll still hold off upgrading the sticks of RAM.
Cpu drives performance at lower settings and lower resolutions. Youre playing at 4k, thats all gpu all day
I don’t really have any advice, I just wanted to wish you best of luck with whatever upgrades you’ll make, you’re gonna need it with how expensive things are getting. I’ll upgrade at some point. I’m just not the type of person who cares about “The Latest Thing” so my 2021 build (I upgraded the gpu and storage since then) will work as I wait through the storm.
Thank you for confirming that it’s mainly GPU. I heard a lot about bottlenecking, so I was worried that my budget CPU would somehow affect its performance, but I suppose the 5600 still stands. Thanks again!
