I'm looking at buying my first car as I have my test in about a month. I don't know much about cars so I'm needing some advice. I'm looking for a manual car that's cheapish to insure for a first time driver. My budget is about 5k but I can go over that if it's a decent car. Any advice on what car to get?

get a civic. cheap to run, easy to fix, and the manual is pretty forgiving for learning

Go to an auto auction with a friend. The few days before to check the car out in person. A scion xB if you can find one. Basically a toyota.
like the other comments, honda would be a great choice. My first stick was an Audi, was very fun to drive and still have it. Never drove a nissan stick but heard they’re good too, as the transmission is the main failure point on the automatics, if you can snag a manual nissan that might be good for you while not being too old. Mazda sticks are fun to drive too and not terribly unreliable, currently selling a 17 Mazda 6 stick, might be the smoothest manual i’ve driven so far and looks amazing.
