Hi everyone. I'm trying to do a little research for a prospective client who operates in the solar panel space. I don't think people are going to see our stuff on social media and impulsively reach out to book an installation. I am also considering ruling out search for now, because it's a small outfit and can't compete with the heavy hitters in this region. So, I am wondering what is the best pipeline that we can explore; do we collect emails? book a consultation, or? Would love to hear from anyone.

I think I'd focus on basic SEO and AEO rather than relying solely on social media. You can go that route without paying for ads. A website with a regularly updated blog (or even an automated blog if it's high quality) can help you show up when homeowners search questions related to solar, energy savings, tax credits, roof replacement, electricity costs, etc. I'd also offer a free 15-minute consultation instead of asking people to request a quote. It's a lower commitment, gives you a chance to educate potential customers, and lets you build trust before asking for the sale.
I wouldn't dismiss search. Somebody searching "solar installer near me" is often much further down the buying journey than somebody seeing a social post. If it's a small company, I'd probably focus on booking consultations rather than collecting email leads. Solar is a considered purchase, and those conversations will usually tell you more than a growing email list.
