Looking for BIFL sheet set

There’s no such thing as BIFL sheets and 100% cotton will wear faster than blends.

I really like their towels, but I think their sheets are overrated. I love the percale Charter Club sheets from Macy’s. They are quite expensive but often go on sale for 1/2 price and last a very long time. It’s also important to have more than one set so you can switch them out to launder.

Still, friction from something that is smooth will cause less damage than friction with something that is rough

Sheets are a wear item so BIFL doesn’t really apply. Thicker sheets will wear longer, so look for something that weighs more. It’s really that simple. If your feet are wearing holes in your sheets, try wearing socks and/or using moisturizer so your feet won’t be so abrasive.

I have had my bamboo/cotton blend sheets from The Company Store for probably 15-20 years. Granted neither I nor my husband rubs our heels against the sheets, but nor are we delicate! These sheets are very soft and drapey, so if you want crisp they would not be the right ones. For us they are perfect, and I can’t imagine sleeping in anything else.

The Boll and Branch Reserve line holds up really well! My dog digs in them a lot and I have never had a pulled thread or seen any pilling, etc.

Lands End Oxford Cloth sheets. Nice weight & they get softer with every wash just like an Oxford cloth shirt. My husband “runs” in his sleep. ;-) These sheets are like new after 4-5 years. 100% cotton.

I think what makes bed sheets last longer. And this is just a huge guess is that you need multiple bed sheet sets. So for example , you use bed sheet set A wash it after 2 weeks. But you put on bed sheet set B and wash that one. Swap for bed sheet set C and then after that then rotate back to Bed sheet set A. I say this because so far none of my bed sheet sets have shown any tear or really bad stretch. I have mixed sets like 100% cotton, linen, Egyptian cotton and a linen mixed set. But that’s just my guess.

The Costco 800 thread count hotel collection ones are about as nice and high quality as any others I've found

You might try looking for a company that sells each piece separately so you only need to buy a new bottom sheet when it wears out.

Have you considered hemp or flax linen?

I got two sets of the Lands End Cotton Percale almost 2 years ago now and they’ve held up nicely. I like my sheets super crisp and breathable. I also struggle with dry heels and bicycle my feet, even with effort they tend to be rough on sheets. So far these have held.

I do the same thing as you with my feet, and yes, I too wear holes in all sheets. It helps to wrap the (untucked) top sheet under my feet, it moves with me so it doesn’t wear out as easily. I also just won’t spend money on expensive sheets anymore. I don’t have a specific rec, just cotton for breathability. I won’t spend more than $70 per set.

If you want linen, the sheets I got from Rough Linen are noticeably thicker and more durable than the ones I got from Quince and Cultiver, while still being very comfortable. (Which got holes in them after like eight months).

Crane and canopy percale is a big step above both of those.

Switch from sateen to percale, that's the main fix. Sateen sleeps warmer and the weave wears through faster, which is almost certainly why the Brooklinen set holed up. Percale is crisp, way more breathable for night sweats, and takes more abuse. For durable percale that isn't crazy money, L.L.Bean pima percale is a classic BIFL pick that lasts. Cultiver or Riley are a step up if you want.

Perhaps obvious, but if you are willing to patch holes when they pop up you will squeeze a little more life out of them.

I’ve had The Citizenry stonewashed linen sheets for years and they’re holding up well (and getting super soft the more they’re washed, and they were already really soft out of the box compared to every other linen brand I tried). I have a small dog who digs at the bottom sheet pretty regularly and they haven’t even started fraying or wearing from that after two years (I’ve had the pillow cases and duvet for four years but switched bed sizes two years ago so had to buy new fitted sheets. Had the previous fitted sheets for two years and those still looked new as well). The only thing that’s happened is I lost one button off the duvet about 2 years ago, but I also kick a lot in my sleep and the button that fell off was right by where my feet usually are so I’m pretty sure I was kicking/pulling the duvet right where it buttoned. I haven’t lost another one anywhere else so 🤷‍♀️ Overall very happy w them, they’re a bit pricey but worth the investment imo and they have pretty regular 20% off sales (although sometimes they’re OOS on colors for a period of time, if they have your color when a sale starts I’d get it because they sell out pretty regularly during sales on the basic colors)

I get the eucalyptus sheets from sijo. They are not BIFL but they feel great and the ones I purchased 3 years ago are holding up strong
