Can I wait on my timing belt
So, my 2015 Chevy Cruze (1.8 engine) is at 103,000 miles. The recommended time to change the timing belt is 100,000. I cannot afford to change it until my paycheck next week. And… I have a drive that will be 200 miles total by the time I am back coming this…
So, my 2015 Chevy Cruze (1.8 engine) is at 103,000 miles. The recommended time to change the timing belt is 100,000. I cannot afford to change it until my paycheck next week. And… I have a drive that will be 200 miles total by the time I am back coming this upcoming weekend (before I change the belt). Also the car has been running completely fine BASICALLY I want to know if this drive would be extremely idiotic. Everyone in my life is telling me it’s not a big deal but they tend to downplay car stuff. Thank you 🙏

Yeah that should be fine.
The 1.8 is an interference engine so if that belt snaps you're looking at a whole new motor, not just a tow bill. 200 miles is probably fine but you're basically rolling dice with a mortgage payment

One of two things will happen over the next 200 miles: The belt will break or the belt will not break. You are 3% over the interval already. another 200m iles is statistically insignificant
You should be fine just don't put it off too long as it can be BAD when they break so the change interval timing is very conservative.
