Noob here, apologies for the many questions For context, I currently have a 128gb SSD installed with my OS (win 10). But it is full even though the only app installed on it is DaVinci resolve. My PC is running slow and I read somewhere that it could be because my SSD is too full. Should I reformat my SSD? If so, how? Is it better to upgrade to windows 11? Do you think I should buy a larger SSD? 500gb or 1tb? I'm thinking of just buying a new SSD and doing a clean install and just reformat the old drive to use as storage, but I wanted to get advice first. Thank you!

I just looked at my mother board and I think I have slot for the M.2 ssd. Thanks for the recommendations! I think I'm set on buying 1tb, so I'll just wait for a discount or something.
Well, you've got about 80gb left after OS files. DaVinci itself is 10-15gb I believe. So about 60-65gb for storage. No reformatting the drive won't expand the size of the drive, if you find you're filling up the drive too fast your only option is to expand storage capacity. That'd be either replace the current drive with something bugger or buy another it your device supports additional sata or m.2 slots. You could also get external storage like an external SSD or HDD. Depends on your needs, external SSD is way more expensive but faster r/w and usually usbc transfer speeds. Don't get a usb 2.0 HDD that's cheap, for the love of the transfer speeds goes. Portable HDD will be the most cost effective, easy option for large addition storage. Otherwise you have cloud storage for a subscription price, but is limited to your internet speeds and you need to clear the files off the device afterwards anyway. Id verify if it's your save files from DaVinci that's chewing up all the storage space you have, where ever you save it to. It is known for large storage files. You could also look into compression tools for finished files from DaVinci if that won't impact your work. I hear handbrake is handy for these scenarios.
Try NTFS compression
After the OS, daVinci, and whatever else you may have installed, you don't have much space left. And while an external HDD may seem cost effective, an internal one would give you more storage for the same or cheaper price.. But even internal HDDs are slow compared to even a 2.5" SSD. Personally, I would swap out the 128GB SSD with a 512GB SSD minimum and preferably 1TB if you can afford it. I would stay away from Kingston (particularly NV2 and NV3 models) as some of their NAND and controller combinations have known performance problems as storage is consumed. Samsung is always a good choice, but you pay a premium for the brand. WD is also good. I also have used a few different Silicon Power SSDs in builds and had good results. You don't need something that is super fast. You just need good enough, and most gen 4 M.2 SSDs will fit that description.
