Tacoma vs Colorado
Looking for a midsize truck. Both would be 2024 or newer. Both would be purchased slightly used. I prefer the styling of the Colorado. That said, is the dependability of the Tacoma worth ignoring my stylistic preference?

Turbo tacoma is a pretty big unknown, only thing going for it to me is resale value in this scenario
I love my 4 liter v6 frontier… well the turning radius sucks … but extremely reliable
I have a 23 z71 with 2.7L with about 38k miles a tons of towing its been issue free since new . I am 6-2" and 240lb so it still.comfortable for me at time of buying it new i passed on the older tacoma .The older generation I didnt care for crap line of site in the seat and very uncomfortable.I havent tested the new tacoma also take a look at a ridgeline very comfortable uni body truck and there are deals to be had on them
I love how Toyota fans always leave out the decade long frame rust disaster chapter of the proven reliability story
Toyota quit using box frames quite a while ago. Irrelevant for a 2024+.
Because I think it a better truck then the tacoma, not gonna beat the V6 dead horse. Honestly id probably pick a ZR2 between the two OP put. But resale value might be important since he doesn't plan to keep it
That makes sense - but the question for me isn’t longevity. I’ll probably have this truck for 5-6 years. Will those 5-6 years be miserable in a Colorado?
Tacoma for proven reliability; Colorado if you prefer the styling and features. Both are good trucks
In that case, get a Tacoma. You'll sell it for the same price you bought it. And you dont need to worry about "what if the turbo fails at 300K miles". You'll be fine. I say this as a 2022 Frontier owner who loves my truck way more than my old 2017 Tacoma.
Why would they bring it up if we're talking about post-2024 models? the frame rust streak was night-two decades ago

Reliability and resale are two VERY historically focused arguments. The latest Tacoma hasn’t proven to be reliable. While resale value has been strong for Tacoma for a couple decades, it’s no guarantee for future performance. Remember, one of the reasons Tacoma had artificially high resale was that for years many of the high volume competitors dipped out of the midsize truck market. For example, there was no Ford Ranger from 2011-2018, and Dodge stopped making the Dakota, and the early Colorado didn’t sell well. So if you genuinely wanted a used small pickup, you were fighting for whatever Tacoma was on the market.
I had a 2017 Colorado which I loved, but the front seat unraveled (just a couple of years old at that point), and then I noticed rust forming under the front doors (after only 3 years) and that was it for me, I traded it off for a Rav4 which I put a trailer hitch on so I can haul my stuff. Also, the transmission started to shift irregularly, this was at about 35,000mi.

The motor is the Colorado drives a little better and is way more proven at this point. They came out with some transmission and electronic issues but from what I’ve seen those have been pretty well ironed out. New Tacoma’s are looking solid, and they’re practically guaranteed to hold their value better. Colorados are much more comfortable inside, have better features, and cost a few grand less. End of the day, you should be fine with either. Just get the one you like the most.
tacoma will outlive the colorado by a decade but if you hate looking at it every day whats the point
