I’m currently driving a 2014 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV (~85k miles) and am starting to shop for my next car. I tend to keep my cars for a long time, so I’m looking for something I can realistically own for 10+ years. Priorities: - Reliability and longevity - Safety - Good fuel economy - Luxury/comfortable interior - Will become our family car (kids in the next few years) - Budget: ideally $40–50k (new or lightly used) My commute is only 15–30 minutes each day, but I also take a few 2–3 week vacations each year, so I’d prefer something that can sit without becoming a headache. Current contenders: Lexus NX 350 Lexus NX 350h Tesla Model Y Genesis GV70 I’m also open to other recommendations that are similar. For those who cross-shopped these vehicles, which would you choose and why? Are there any reliability or ownership issues I should know about before making a decision?

When I was shopping for the same thing six months ago, I found several RX350h for sale in your price range. They seem to be the most reliable mid-sized SUV. I bought a CPO 2023 Premium+ with 20K on the OTD, for $52K from the Lexus dealer here in Vegas. I'm 6-6/300, and it fits me very well and is so quiet and comfortable. I made the right choice. They also had a 2020 and 2021 for slightly less, but I prefer the 2023 body and interior. Carmax had a few also, at great prices, but they have a terrible rep here in Vegas, and I really love Toyota/Lexus certified pre-owned, so that's the way I went. You pay more for the CPO, but way less hassle in the long run.
