[Routine Help] Basic recs for my newbie husband - any changes?
Just trying to keep it simple. He already likes this moisturizer and it has sunscreen, so I thought that made sense since I don’t think he’ll use a separate spf (except when we’re out in the sun on purpose). He wants a cleanser, and I figured a toner for 1-2x…
Just trying to keep it simple. He already likes this moisturizer and it has sunscreen, so I thought that made sense since I don’t think he’ll use a separate spf (except when we’re out in the sun on purpose). He wants a cleanser, and I figured a toner for 1-2x a week too but not sure if another AHA (cleanser has AHA) was the right choice. Just grabbed all Cerave products bc it’s convenient but I’m open to any recs. His main concern is just general skin health. He has been acne prone but rarely breaks out, has very dark circles around his eyes (likely genetic), and has recently started getting a few of those little keratin white spots around his eyes (which I know this won’t help, but it’s what prompted him to ask). He’s mid 40s, doesn’t get a ton of sun, smoked for many years (vapes now). Appreciate any help 🥰 Budget is fairly open for the right items.

Hey, thank you for this! Do you have any specific product suggestions, specifically for the exfoliating serum and caffeine serum?
I only use AHAs atm. For serums i typically just look to the company called "The Ordinary" due to their stuff being decently priced. The 7% aha toner is decent for something stronger. I like the lactic acid + HA because its lighter exfoliationg with hydrating can be used more often for me. Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Eye Serum i like as well for dark circles.
Your toner and cleanser have bha exfoliant in it. I would just have a product that i can used to exfoliate every few days and a moituirzing cleanser. Bha is good for acne by reducingoil in pores but dont do much in terms of helping skin appearance of texture and dark spots which AHAs would help. Dark eyes and milia is from the skin around the eyes are damaged usually. Milia could be also from the the suncreen because it can be hard to remove without an oil cleanser. Dark eyes can be helped with hydrating products and caffeine eye serums. Milia can be helped with retinol and AHAs from my experience. Though it make still take months for them to dissappear. Personally i would use a gentle cleanser, lightweight hydrating toner(if he has oily skin), and an exfoliating serum. Depends on his skin type too like oily or dry
Go with a gentle cleanser and exfoliating toner or exfoliating cleanser and gentle toner, not both
I'd switch the cleanser for the hydrating Cerave one, too much exfoliant will damage his skin not help it. Hydration would be more important especially since he's a smoker.

CeraVe destroys my skin barrier but everyone’s skin is different. The skincare routine below would work. AM * Gentle cleanser * Moisturizer * SPF PM * Gentle cleanser * Retinol (if interested in an active) * Moisturizer
