Looking for a raincoat for my dog and everything we have tried does not fit right. She has a big barrel chest, but is pretty slim in the waist in comparison and the coats are either way too big in the back or don’t fit round the chest. She is also very anti-rain. I did think about just getting the big one but the back doesn’t stay and ends up slipping sideways, and the “hood” is always way too big and falls over her eyes. Does anyone have recommendations for a coat that may work or has an adjustable back part that can be “cinched” so it doesn’t flap around?

this looks like it would work, thanks for the recommendation!! and yes another person commented about hoods generally not working because they are not made for dogs, makes complete sense to have the tube

i definitely ripped the hood off her winter jacket for the same reason lol

Of course! I know it's a little expensive (it cost more than my jacket lol) but it's worth it to have a mostly dry dog. Not much I can do about his feet unless I want to buy him rain boots. If you have a harness with a handle on the back like mine does, you'll want to use the leg straps on the back.

I have a ruffwear winter jacket for my dog, it's more like an intermediate winter jacket that I don't use for extreme cold, but I love it. Can't go wrong with either brand.

Oh! Do you have the back leg things on? That changes everything

I love my hurtta rain jacket for my dog. This is the one I have. It can be adjusted in several places, including the waist, for the perfect fit to my dog. And it doesn't have a real "hood" like a person hood. It's more like a tube.

+1 for Hurtta. Also Ruffwear. I feel like they actually make clothing for the structure of an actual dog, as well as the variance between breeds. The coats with hoods I find are designed for people, as in, marketed towards the human eye rather than the practicality of what a dog needs.

my great pyrenees has the same issue, chest like a barrel and then nothing in the back. most coats are made for dogs shaped like sausages i swear i ended up getting one with a belly strap that goes behind the legs and a separate chest strap, not those ones with just one strap in the middle. the back part still a bit loose but the straps keep it from sliding sideways. also i just cut the hood off with scissors, he hated it anyway and now he can see if you can find something with adjustable neck and chest straps that is the way to go, forget the hoods they never fit right on deep chested dogs

I have this style for my dogs. I find they twist and dont say in place no matter how its adjusted.

Chillydogs makes coats with fits for various shapes.
