Little background info: Im going into uni for MIS/BTM (management information systems, IT + Business) Country Canada Budget 880CAD to 1800CAD (627USD to 1282USD). Though, id like to stay between 950CAD to 1550CAD (677USD to 1068USD). Are you open to refurbs/used options? Maybe, but it has to be excellent condition. I dont really mind, gotta save money somehow Screen size 14.6 to 16inch Weight limit i dont want like 5 to 10kg laptop. Purpose General, I will be using it for schoolwork and as a personal device. Form factor Standard/regular Intended usage Apps ill be using: Docs, excel, photoshop, blender, power IB, tableau, SQL and Python, cloud networks/ servers and some devops. Ive been using chromebooks so i need to at least have docs opened with no lag and 20+ tabs. Also im a light gamer, i mostly play on pc but i do wanna allocate some games onto this laptop. Just has to run properly. i wanna at least be able to play persona 5 or omori. Desired battery life 4hrs to 6hrs List of priorities ( greatest to least) Performance, Battery life, weight, size Info/Requirements Im probably gonna stick with Intel only, preferably OLED but open to anything suggestions. Im particularly looking at Dell, asus, and Lenovo (Maybe Acer but definitely not HP) I want at least 16gb of ram and at least 512gb. Looking for i5 minimum, probably i7 12th gen maybe but like i said im open to anything.

i grabbed a thinkpad p1 gen 5 for 1400 canadian with i7 12700h, 32gb ram, 1 tb ssd, dedicated gpu. it’s 16” and a bit of a tight fit in my backpack. my schooling required dgpu, you can get a p1 with integrated gpu or low powered gpu for less than 1400 usually. i’d also urge you to look at a p14s gen 5 amd. can get ryzen 5 or 7 and will get better battery life being amd and no dgpu
Since you prefer oled display, I would recommend Acer Swift 16 because it comes with : Specs: Screen: 16" 2.8K OLED CPU : Intel Core 7 256V Ram : 16GB DDR5 Storage : 1TB SSD Why I am recommending it: Has a powerful CPU for school work.
