Sometimes I see the box in Target, but it's not there now. Just wondering if there is a reputable trustworthy place where I can take them.

Target has a car seat trade in event once per year where people can bring in old car seats, even if they are expired, and get a discount on new ones. I think Target recycles them, or at least that’s what they claim. If you have any friends who are pregnant or have young kids, you could offer the car seats to them to use as trade ins. Or maybe see if there’s a “Buy Nothing” group in your area where you can offer them for the same purpose.
