My main goal is to upgrade my PC for video editing in Resolve, and also to be able to view 8.1k Open Gate video files in particularly, which my current PC literally displays artifacts when trying to do so (see thread). I'm also a gamer, but this is very secondary. When exploring a new GPU, I realized I could also ease up some other bottlenecks in the current build. I do understand I could go a little harder for CPU and memory to have more headroom with possible Resolve effects etc, but I genuinely don't think that's in my future. Otherwise, I do want this build to last so I can ride out this AI wave for the next few years. This will all come to about $2700 USD, which is crazy, but not exactly out of budget. That said, I've heard folks say you can save a little looking into prebuilts + GPU's and haven't explored that yet since I'm bringing components with me (haven't mentioned hard drives, but have 2 nvme, 1 SSD, 1 HHD in tow).

It looks like there are some prebuilts with the 5070ti that come in under $2700 and AM5, so it'd probably be worth looking into that.
Wow okay, will do. Honestly haven't bought a pre built in over a decade. What are reputable places to look for them (besides newegg, the only shop I know; or Microcenter -- don't live near one)
Swap the cooler for the Thermalright Phantom Spirit instead.
So you could go this route, but you are pretty wildly overspending for just an upgrade on your AM4 build. If you are bringing your current storage over, you can do a 5070ti/7900x build for under $2k pretty easily. This also leaves all your current hardware you would be able to sell 2nd hand.
