Best 2x on Everyday “Catch All” Credit Card?
Title. I’m on the hunt for a new CC and I’m debating on getting either a premium card like AMEX Plat, Chase SR, or CapOne Venture X OR a card that offers 2x or higher on everyday purchases (best with no annual fee)

Best for cash back: Fidelity Visa (though, no SUB now, so if favor the next one) Wells Fargo Active Cash (also works for points) Best for points: Venture X Amex Blue Business Plus
Definitely more options without AF and/or FTF.. They are lesser known and most cases bank or credit union specific cards..
You should check out Northwest Federal's $500 for 5k spend offering on their 2% card....:)
The catch with the SDFCU card is their abysmal customer service.
Amex Plat and BBP work well together You need a Visa or MC backup.
Best no AF is Fidelity Visa, 2% cash back and no foreign transaction fee, and you even get TSA/Global entry refunded, I think. Anything else either has AF or FTF or is travel points like Venture X which is also a good card but $400 AF which does not make it that simple
“Anything else either has AF or FTF” Not true? PNC Cash Unlimited, Navy Federal cashRewards+, PenFed Power Cash, BCU Cash Rewards, and SDFCU Premium CashBack+ are all no AF no FTF 2% cards. Navy Federal has eligibility requirements to join and PenFed requires maintaining direct deposit or a minimum balance in a checking for the 2%, but the PNC, BCU, and SDFCU offerings don’t really have catches
I like the VX cause the protections are good, I can use it at Costco, and free AUs. If you don't care about some of that, any BILT is technically better if you have housing you can report Also consider a 3% card like Robinhood cause that's effectively a guaranteed 1.5 CPP redemption that you get immediately
If you travel the VX gives you a 300$ travel credit which is super easy to use if you ever use hotels or flights within a year, and 10k in miles, which if you're traveling, you'll want anyways. If you want cash back, robin hood gold is your best bet, but fidelity is also super good
VX has 2X so I think you could get a nice “best of both worlds” by just getting that. As long as you have $300 travel spend annually, making up the annual fee is super easy.
Citi double or fidelity visa
Fidelity Visa. Amex BBP if you use the points for travel. Amex Plat and BBP work well together
2x or 2%?
For people not trying to get like 5x everything I just recommend the fidelity visa and tell them to invest the cashback into a fidelity Roth IRA.
if you have 7 figure assets at BofA, PRE.
IMO Amex BBP is the best domestic. 0AF, 2X MR, Amex protections and insurance add on for car, just stupid simple and has a great backstop. After that, Venture X/BoA PRE w/ Status
Palladium is best of both worlds. Lounge access, transfer partners, and 3+x catch all
FNBO Evergreen. 2% everywhere. Can lock the physical card and still be able to use it in your mobile wallet (I love this feature because it helps prevent fraud), $200 bonus for $1K spend in 90 days. They don't seem to be overly sensitive to credit seeking and give decent starting limits. It does have a 3% FTF though and redemption starts at $25 (they have been adding additional redemption options though so maybe this won't be a limit for long as they send out surveys a couple times a year asking for suggestions to improve the card). If you're eligible, Navy Federal's cashRewards Plus card will give you 2% everywhere, has a $250 bonus for spending $2500 in 90 days, and has no FTF. Navy Federal cards are known to grow quickly and this card can grow to a maximum of $50K (maximum increase $8K per request). Cash back can be redeemed when the purchases posts for as little as a penny. This one doesn't work in mobile wallet when the physical card is locked though and it requires you to apply for the cashRewards and get a limit over $5K or increase your limit with CLIs to over $5K otherwise it only earns 1.5%. Wells Fargo Active Cash will give you a $200 bonus for spending $500 in 90 days. Like FNBO, it has a 3% FTF. You'll get 0% on purchases and BTs for 12 months with this card though. I am not sure if this card works in mobile wallet while the physical card is locked as I gave mine the axe. Cash back can be redeemed in any amount but doesn't post until the statement cuts. I personally wouldn't get a card without a sign up bonus. It takes $10K of spend at 2% to get $200 without a SUB after all. I also don't find any of the other 2% cards more appealing. Like people suggest the Fidelity card but US Bank's Elan division is in charge of that. US Bank's underwriting can be an absolute joke. I've seen people get $500 limits more times than I can count and US Bank often wants you at 1/12 or even 0/12 to approve you.
Northwest Federal Credit Union has a 2% flat Visa with a "spend $5k, get $500 cashback" card. They're ok. Nothing great interface wise, but the $500 is something else.
No annual fee for 2%, Wells Fargo active cash is straight forward
Fidelity Visa.
Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards and Premium Rewards cards get a 1.5% catch all. But if you have $100k in a bank of america account or a merrill edge investment account you can get a 50% bonus, which is 2.25%. It use to be a 75% bonus, so it isnt quite what it used to be. You can keep the 75% bonus with $1 million. That's a 2.625% catch all. Its a legit option if anyone has their retirement accounts invested with Merrill Edge. I'm not sure its worth changing investment banks for, though.
Amex blue business plus Amex blue business cash Apple Card Fidelity rewards Visa Wells Fargo active cash Citi double cash U.S. bank smartly Visa
I like the savor card a lot
For me, definitely navy federal flagship. $49AF, $350 SUB, TSA/GE credit, and annual Amazon prime credit. The SUB alone covers 7 years of the AF.
