As the title says, the ChatGPT Classic app has a Work with Apps feature that lets ChatGPT "look" at any open terminal window or text file. It can also suggest patched changes (e.g., it suggests lines to remove and lines to add) and you can implement the changes by clicking the "Apply" button. If you don't like the changes you applied, you can click "Revert" to undo them. The new ChatGPT app for macOS does not seem to have this feature. It cannot read the open terminal window or an open text file. Is this on purpose? Or something that was overlooked? I am very frustrated as my entire workflow is now disrupted.

This is incorrect. The toggle does nothing. I have looked through Codex and cannot find that feature in the new app.
Apparently, the Work in ChatGPT Classic and the Work in ChatGPT (the ex-Codex app, because why don't we fix what's not broken?) are two entirely different things. You should use the new ChatGPT (not Classic). I am a windows user, so I asked Chat to help me draft a response, and it goes as follows: "Work with Apps” in ChatGPT Classic and “Work” in the new ChatGPT desktop app are apparently two different systems, despite OpenAI giving them nearly identical names. The nearest equivalent in the new app is: Select ChatGPT rather than Codex. Switch from Chat to Work. Start a new conversation with “Work locally” selected and choose the relevant folder. Install/enable the Computer Use plugin. On macOS it also needs Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions. Local Work can read and edit files in the selected folder, use its own shell, and—with Computer Use—see and operate permitted Mac apps. However, this is not a complete replacement for the old workflow. OpenAI’s current documentation explicitly says Computer Use cannot automate Terminal apps, so it cannot simply inspect an already-open Terminal window the way Classic’s Work with Apps could. I also haven’t found anything confirming that the old Apply/Revert patch interface is preserved exactly as it was. So you may be able to reproduce part of your workflow through local Work, but if you specifically need ChatGPT to read the contents of an existing Terminal window and provide the same one-click Apply/Revert editing experience, it appears to be a genuine feature-parity gap in the new app—not a setting you have overlooked.
