AskMeety - Meeting notes that never leave your Mac, now with eyes. 100% private and 100% yours.

I honestly didn't expect the kind of response we've received over the past few months. Thank you to every single person who early-adopted, tested, and gave honest feedback. You made the app what it is today. This is my heartfelt thanks to one and everyone who helped me out there ! The problem we're solving : Most of us leave meetings having already forgotten half of what was said. Tools like Otter.ai or Fireflies exist, but they send a bot into your call awkward, privacy invasive, and often blocked entirely. And your data lives on their servers, not yours... Honestly I built this app for myself and later found out that it really has some good value addition, and then started making it a clean and end to end app, MacOS native app. AskMeety is different, comparing with the existing solutions: It's a fully offline, local-first meeting notes app for Mac. No bots. No cloud. Just the app on your machine, recording audio, capturing smart visual snapshots (VisualWalk), and turning everything into deep, structured notes by the time the call ends. Works with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Webex, and yes even in-person meetings. Post the meeting notes and summary generation, you can easily export to a PDF or Markdown, as per your needs. Also, you can chat and search across the meeting notes and transcripts. The feature people loved most: VisualWalk captured everyone's attention. Instead of recording the full video, it intelligently captures the key moments of a meeting and generates a blog-style visual summary you can actually skim through. Storage-efficient and genuinely useful and we're actively making it even better. Pricing: one-time purchase We completely understand that, people are really tired of the Subscription fatigue and it really doesn't make any sense for paying a subscription for a utility tool these days. AskMeety is $55 one-time, that includes priority customer support and 1 year of major updates. No recurring fees, no lock-in. App Link : askmeety.app Queries and support : hi@askmeety.app Im the dev behind this. And you can find me on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nalin-rajendran Would love your honest feedback and constructive criticism is always welcome. Thanks again for being part of this ! And we really appreciate your support for us 🥹 Thanks !!!

The issues I raised during the closed beta were never resolved, now the app is locked behind a paywall . My concern with this app is your “My Size Fits All” approach. There settings / options were non-existent. You cannot even select the audio mic source. This is an app in its infancy and does not warrant a $55 price tag.

OP, this post might get taken down. You need to follow the transparency guidelines as set by the mods to make a post -- either an app Store link, a dev flair, or post your linkedin and socials in the post. You can edit it now to avoid it. Also you need 10 karma from macApps but maybe automod checks that on post so you might be fine.

this looks promising! I’ve been looking for a solution like this to help me bridge the gaps left in my hand-taken notes during calls. unfortunatey, I don’t think I’m a paying customer right now. with this being so new and part of a rapidly saturating market, I think you’re pricing out a lot of folks who would be interested in giving it a chance. I have tried other tools similar to this but have never found a solution that doesn’t end up with me doing a bunch of extra work to “clean” and organize the automated notes with my own notes. its the kind of tool that needs to fit seamlessly into my workflow, and if it doesn’t, or there are rough edges to fight, I’ll bounce off it in a few weeks. At $55 I’m not going to take the chance to see if it’s what I’m looking for. theres a middleground here between perpetual subscriptions and a one-time fee that I think would help your conversion rate. Perhaps offer a monthly ($8?) subscription with the option to purchase a lifetime license at the end of the first month for a discount equal to the monthly payment? so if I’ve used it for a few weeks weeks and feel it’s adding value to my workflow, I can pay $47 before the first month ends and keep it for life. you may still find customers willing to continue a monthly sub at that price too, that otherwise wouldn’t drop $55 in one shot. just something to consider — obviously my option is just that of some schlub on the internet. Either way - congrats to you and it does look very interesting!

Great idea and thanks for the one time purchase! I’m excited to test it out 👍

Free and open source meeting notes app that is purely local (I am not affiliated, I just use it): https://github.com/ruzin/stenoai

It work ok with Portuguese? It seems a good app, I will text it!

Hey dude ! Thanks a lot for your interest. We are currently supporting only English. And our team is working on extending it to multiple languages : )

u/wunderrrbarrr77

a pity that it only supports english. will check it out ones more languages are supported or a free trial is available.

Any chance to get a free trial for 1-2 meetings or days ? I am using Amie at the moment which works great for me with a Setapp subscription. Would be very happy to have it and exist setapp subscription. If I could try and see if it serves my needs.

100% local processing for meeting notes is a harder sell than it sounds, not because people prefer cloud, but because local transcription quality on Apple Silicon has only recently gotten good enough to actually match hosted models. The visual input feature is the real differentiator here though. Being able to capture whiteboard content or a shared screen without screensharing permissions is genuinely useful in corporate environments where IT locks down screen recording for compliance reasons. Curious what model is running the visual processing and whether performance degrades noticeably on M1 compared to M3 chips, since a lot of enterprise users are still on older hardware.

u/LIN3003楼主回复

Thanks a lot dude ! And you actually have a point about the older hardware. The performance part would have a variation from macs with base M1 chip and others. We have slightly throttled the performance down for base varient of M1(not very noticable tho) , but it would perform just as good as the newer ones, right from the M1 pro chips. Because, one of our huge concern was not eating up hardware resources always, so we pushed maximum to optimise it : )

Question, I do not see a menu bar item for the app, quite possible I am missing something, but I prefer to not have to have a doc item running all the time. Any way to hide it and work from a menu item instead?

u/LIN3003楼主回复

Hey dude, we are taking it action item for the next release. Please bare it on your dock for time being 😬

u/CryptoFox402

Would love a trial as well, if you’re still handing them out.

u/advait_vaidya

If it’s fully local, how are you generating summaries etc?

u/LIN3003楼主回复

Askmeety runs Local AI on your mac, which transcribes, and generates summary completely offline : )

u/Bubbly-Celebration63

Looks impressive! I helped build Dimdim and Webex so I know how meeting notes are the bottleneck and good to see someone solving that! I'm now building my first app and wondering if/how your experience was improved using Claude.

u/minimalistdave

I need video recording so if it can do video it would be great , otherwise just photo won’t cut it

u/LIN3003楼主回复

Got it dude ! Let me include that as an optional setting while starting tbe recording : ) Thanks a lot for your inputs !

u/ContextSpiritual9068

the VisualWalk idea is smart — most transcription tools give you a wall of text and expect you to do the work. capturing key visual moments is a much better UX for async review

u/gabzlora

How can i test the app before purchase? This will be a hard sell if i cannot play around with it first. I like the idea and im a potential user.

u/LIN3003楼主回复

No worries dude, I can give you a trail key : ) Im DMing you.

Only one year of updates is a deal breaker. Let us know when you offer a real lifetime deal.
