I built Dina, a screen recorder that creates beautiful screen video and instant shareable links
Hey everyone! My name is Zaid, and today I’m sharing a new update for Dina. I posted here a few months back looking for feedback on a screen recorder I built. I received a lot of feedback, advice both positive and negative and listened carefully. Spent the last month rebuilding the whole thing around cloud sharing. You can now record a video, and export the videos as shareable links instantly. You can connect your own cloud providers instead of having to pay subscriptions now, just add your provider and you are done. The last feedback from the reddit community help spread the word, got teams using it to record demos, and got some cool momentum from Product Hunt and Windsurf too. But I'm still posting here because the feedback from this community was what kickstarted all of this. Problem: Dina allows you to record beautiful screen videos in minutes. You can share and collaborate on the videos with anyone using instantly cloud links with you managing your own data. Comparison: There are a few solid options out there for screen recording, so here's what's different with Dina: Loom: Really good at collaboration and sharing. Built for teams, works great for quick demos. But it's designed around "record and upload as-is." If you want your videos to look polished, you're either editing them somewhere else afterward or accepting they look basic. Also subscription-based ($15/month). ScreenStudio: Handles the polish part well - nice effects, zoom, transitions. Look nice. Where will videos from shareable links be hosted?
Glad you like it, you can connect your own cloud providers like Vercel blob, AWS S3 etc. and down the line would be more options like Google drive, dropbox, icloud etc.
How does it compare to Screenkite which is free?
Thank you, I just found out about Screenkit, but looking at their feature set, there are lots of professional grade features like Layouts, Annotations, IOS recordings, Transcription based editing etc. that are in Dina which sets it apart from it :)
Can we share with a link in ScreenKite like we can in Loom and this Dina app?

there is something called Cap which is free, curious how it compares to that and if the videos instantly come out with accurate zooms where required
Hello, Cap is a cross platform app which lacks lot of Native features that comes handy with macOs. I can go in detail about performance, export qualities, but to give a general idea, with dina you can export videos in native resolutions as well ( i.e. like 8k monitors ), and there are lots of features that are designed for making the workflow better which are not in Cap. Layouts, Annotations, IOS Recordings, AI Voiceovers, Mic voiceovers, and many more

Looks good. But I'm wondering about its future development. I’ve bought software before that just went dead with zero updates
You can look into the changelogs :- dina.so/changelog There has been constant updates happening and new plans for the future. The growth is pretty good which justifies the development :)

Its already available, when you generate transfeiption based editing, there is the option to remove both of them :)
Cool app so far. It's combining a lot of what I like about Screen Studio and FocusSee into one app. There are some points of feedback that would really make it great and beat the other apps hands down: - Some of the cursors appear as low resolution/pixelated, especially the hand/finger cursor when selecting links. Especially when it appears during a zoom in. This should be highest importance to fix. - Having "Reset" button for each option would be helpful, to return the setting to the default value. - Need more cursor options, custom cursors eventually. - 3D tilts/pans/zooms would be great eventually. - Would be great to have more Annotation/Mask options eventually like magnify/enlarge/lightbox, spotlight (dim out rest of screen), etc. - I like the modern light aesthetic of the app, however it would also be good to have a dark theme. The countdown timer is unreadable on light backgrounds. - Lastly, the name "Dina" is an interesting choice. In the USA it is a women's name, not terribly common, and doesn't describe what this app does at all. Would consider a more descriptive name.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback The app does have dark mode, but it shows up based on the system wide theme, basically if you change your system to dark mode Would be adding more better wuality cursor types very soon 3d pan etc is in roadmap I decided to choose Dina as it gives a more personalised feeling rather than “Capture pro max” because its easy to forget those names Feel free to test the app more and I am open to feedbacks, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out anytime :)
Privacy policy says you share website analytics. Why is this telemetry even being recorded? “Analytics Providers: To collect privacy-focused, anonymized website and app usage statistics.” 2. Great comparison!
Hey, thank you for the comment, currently it uses web anaylrics for traffic detection using vercel analytics only, there is no heatmap data that is being recorded. The comparison pages are meant for the USP for the product, but would like to know what exactly you felt confusing?
